Description: Rays first baseman James Loney was 3-for-4 and scored a run as the Rays beat the Yankees, 6-1, on Tuesday.
Insight: Loney scored his run in the seventh on Wil Myers sacrifice fly. All of the first baseman's hits were singles. Loney is hitting .292 with nine homers and 66 RBI this year.

9/7/2014 6:59:00 PM
Description: Rays first baseman James Loney went 4-for-6 with a solo home run in a losing effort against the Orioles on Sunday.
Insight: Loney had a great August, hitting .304 with 13 RBI and nine runs, but Loney came into Sunday's contest hitting .167 in the first week of September. Sunday's 4-for-6 will certainly raise the old batting average. Loney is hitting .286 with eight home runs and 64 RBI this season.

8/28/2014 10:40:00 PM
Description: Rays first baseman James Loney went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI on Thursday against the Orioles.
Insight: Loney is 4-for-11 (.364) in his last three games and is hitting .299 with 11 RBI in August. Just don't expect much power from this first baseman as he has seven diggers on the year.

Hot8/28/2014 10:22:00 AM
Description: Rays first baseman James Loney has batted .500 for his career against Baltimore right-hander Bud Norris.
Insight: Loney doesn't peovide much power, but he's always hit for a decent average and can pick it around the first base bag. He's batting .299 in 24 August games.

Hot8/15/2014 10:13:00 PM
Description: Rays first baseman James Loney has batted .340 with a homer and 12 RBI since the All-Star break.
Insight: That includes seven hits and five RBI in his last 13 at-bats. He went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI Friday against the Yankees.

8/9/2014 10:59:00 AM
Description: Rays first baseman James Loney is 7-for-14 against Cubs starter Edwin Jackson.
Insight: Loney has hit safely in 15 of the past 18 games to raise his average to .291. Still, he's a just a singles-hitting first baseman.

7/22/2014 10:29:00 AM
Description: Rays first baseman James Loney is one of the rare hitters with a history of success versus Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright.
Insight: Loney is a career .462 hitter (12-for-26) with a 1.154 OPS against Wainwright. He's a non-power hitting first baseman, who can hit for a decent average and knock in runs when needed, but isn't an everyday fantasy option.

6/23/2014 10:20:00 AM
Description: Rays first baseman James Loney is jusy 1-for-12 (.083) against Pittsburgh right-hander Edinson Volquez.
Insight: Loney is a non-power hitting first baseman, who can hit for a decent average and knock in runs when needed, but he hasn't put up an OPS over .778 since being a part-timer in 2007. Today's matchup should be avoided.

5/10/2014 10:25:00 PM
Description: Rays first baseman James Loney is hitting .326 with an .833 OPS in 129 at-bats.
Insight: Loney went 3-for-4 with two RBI Saturday against Cleveland and now has 21 RBI on the year, but just one home run. He's owned in just 24 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

5/7/2014 10:13:00 AM
Description: Rays first baseman James Loney has picked up a hit in more than half of his at-bats against Baltimore starter Bud Norris.
Insight: Loney is 9-for-17 (.529) with two doubles against Norris and is batting .322 this season even after going 0-for-7 the last two games. Make sure he's in your lineup Wednesday.

Hot5/1/2014 10:05:00 AM
Description: Rays 1B James Loney is a career .323 hitter (10-for-31) with seven extra base hits and a 1.021 OPS against Boston starter Jake Peavy.
Insight: Loney has gotten off to a better than average start, batting .301 with an .812 OPS. Add in a favorable matchup and the wind blowing out and Loney makes a decent play on Thursday afternoon.

Hot4/24/2014 6:05:00 PM
Description: Rays 1B James Loney has produced multiple hits in five of the last six games.
Insight: Loney has gone 12-for-26 (.462) with four doubles, nine RBI and six runs during his six-game hitting streak.

Hot4/23/2014 9:22:00 AM
Description: Tampa Bay first baseman James Loney stayed hot with three hits Tuesday against the Twins.
Insight: He's been ridiculous over his last four games, providing nine hits over that span (.563 AVG). Loney, who has never been a big power guy, is on pace for 97 RBI this season. Fantasy owners in the market for a corner infielder could do a lot worse than Loney (.302, 1 HR, 12 RBI).

4/4/2014 6:34:00 PM
Description: Rays first baseman James Loney won't start Friday against the Rangers.
Insight: Though left-hander Joe Saunders is throwing for Texas, Loney actually hit the same against lefties as he did against right-handers last season (.299). Sean Rodriguez will get the start at first tonight with Loney likely to return on Saturday.

11/16/2013 10:59:00 AM
Description: The Rockies are looking for a new first baseman and James Loney appears to be high on their list. SOURCE: Denver Post
Insight: Loney experienced a career resurgence last year with the Rays (.299, 13 HR, 75 RBI in 158 games). In Colorado, he'd be replacing Todd Helton, who recently announced his retirement after 17 seasons.

Hot10/8/2013 10:26:00 AM
Description: Tampa Bay first baseman James Loney 10-for-31 (.323) with a pair of home runs against Boston starter Jake Peavy.

Description: Tampa Bay first baseman James Loney is not in the starting lineup for Monday's game against Baltimore.
Insight: It's just a planned rest day, no injury that we are aware of. Loney has put together a solid season batting .294 with 12 HR and 70 RBI.

9/12/2013 10:02:00 AM
Description: Tampa Bay first baseman James Loney owns a .321 lifetime average against Boston's Jake Peavy.
Insight: Loney was a member of the Dodgers for most of his career so he faced Peavy often when the right-hander was on the Padres. He's 9-for-28 with four doubles and two home runs against Peavy. After batting .247 with a .566 OPS in August, Loney has gone 12-for-36 (.333) with two home runs and five walks in 10 games this month.
