Tuesday, August 12 (All times Eastern)

New York Yankees (61-57) at Baltimore Orioles (68-50), 7:05 p.m.

Probable Starting Pitchers: New York - Shane Greene (3-1, 2.89) Baltimore - Wei-Yin Chen (12-4, 3.90)

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Baltimore Orioles aim for their eighth straight series win when they resume a three-game set versus the AL East-rival New York Yankees Tuesday at Camden Yards.

The last time the division-leading Orioles lost a series was from July 18-20 against the Oakland Athletics out west. They put themselves in position to keep the streak alive with Monday's 11-3 rout of the Yankees, as Baltimore erased a 3-1 deficit to roll to its 11th win in the last 15 games.

Chris Davis, Nelson Cruz and Jonathan Schoop all homered and combined for eight RBI, while Adam Jones recorded three hits, including two doubles, and a pair of runs batted in. Schoop is 10-for-26 (.385) with three home runs and 10 RBI against the Yankees this season.

"Those are pretty good numbers," Schoop said. "They're a division opponent, so maybe I'm just more excited."

Nick Markakis went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and the Orioles are now 25-11 since July 1 and 14-5 at Camden Yards since June 30. Baltimore has won eight straight series openers and improved to 29-19 against the AL East.

The Orioles, who are six games ahead of Toronto and seven in front of New York in the AL East, scored 10 or more runs for the third time in the last four games and have posted 10 or more hits in four straight. They are 34-10 when hitting more than one home run and lead the majors with 150 blasts.

Meanwhile, Orioles third baseman Manny Machado left the game in the third inning after injuring his right knee on a swing. X-rays came back negative and he is expected to have an MRI on Tuesday morning. Machado is batting .278 with 12 homers and 32 RBI this season.

"It's been a lot more positive than the way it looked," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "He seems to be in pretty good spirits considering. We're hoping for good news tomorrow. There's a chance we dodged a bullet."

Machado missed the last week of the 2013 season and wasn't activated until May 1 this year after tearing a ligament in his left knee. In other injury news, Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy missed a second straight game Monday with a sprained left thumb and is day-to-day.

O's starting pitcher Bud Norris picked up his third win in five starts despite giving up all three runs on five hits and a walk in five innings.

Taking the mound for Baltimore Tuesday will be Wei-Yin Chen. Chen will try again for his 13th win of the season and is 12-4 with a 3.90 earned run average. He had won five straight starts until last Wednesday's 5-1 loss at Toronto and gave up four runs and eight hits in five innings.

Chen has a 6-2 record in 12 home starts, but is 2-3 with a 5.76 ERA in eight career starts against the Yankees. The left-hander, though, defeated the Yankees in the Bronx on April 8 in a 14-5 blowout and was reached for four runs and nine hits in five innings.

The Yankees have now dropped three in a row since winning six of seven games and opened a six-game road trip on a sour note last night.

Derek Jeter drove in a run, while Brett Gardner, Carlos Beltran and Chase Headley all scored for New York, which is now three games out of a wild card spot and 21-24 in division play.

"I really don't think it makes a difference who you're playing," Jeter said. "We've got to find ways to win games. It's not like you can exhale when you're playing a team that's not in front of us."

Chris Capuano was saddled with the loss for New York, charged with four runs and six hits in six innings with seven strikeouts and no walks. Adam Warren and Chase Whitley combined to allow seven runs in relief.

The Yankees have scored a total of four runs during their current slide and are 14-10 since the All-Star break. They will also visit Tampa Bay for three games on this road trip.

New York announced that right-hander Michael Pineda will start Wednesday's series finale in Baltimore after missing more than three months with a shoulder injury. Pineda was placed on the disabled list May 6 after his 10- game suspension for doctoring a baseball.

"I'm very, very happy. I'm coming back to my team and to the rotation," Pineda said.

Shane Greene gets the ball for the Yanks Tuesday and the young hurler is 3-1 with a 2.89 earned run average in seven games (6 starts) this season. Greene had his best outing as a pro in last Thursday's 1-0 win over Detroit, tossing eight scoreless innings and allowing five hits with five K's and three walks.

Greene, a right-hander, is 2-0 in four games (3 starts) on the road and defeated Baltimore on July 12 with 7 1/3 shutout innings in a 3-0 win. He fanned a career-high nine batters and walked two in that one.

The Yankees are 3-7 against Baltimore this season and will face them seven more times after this set.
