Description: Nationals closer Drew Storen saves 10th game Tuesaday.
Insight: The Nats are relieved that Storen has been this dominant since taking over for an ineffective Rafael Soriano. He struck out two and now owns a 1.16 ERA.

8/15/2013 9:10:00 PM
Description: The Nationals have recalled reliever Drew Storen from Triple-A Syracuse.
Insight: Storen was optioned to Triple-A a little over two weeks ago. He posted a 5.68 ERA during his six-game stint with Syracuse. Storen's last productive season in fantasy came in 2011 (6-3, 43 saves).

1/17/2013 10:13:00 PM
Description: Washington avoided arbitration with reliever Drew Storen Thursday by signing him to a one-year, $2.5 million deal.
Insight: Storen's fantasy value was delivered a huge blow earlier this week when the Nationals signed Rafael Soriano to a two-year contract. He'll only be of value in leagues that use holds as a category.

10/13/2012 9:22:00 AM
Description: Nationals closer Drew Storen had a disastrous outing at the worst time, in the ninth inning of Game 5 of the NLDS against the Cardinals. Storen inherited a 7-5 lead with a chance to send Washington to its first NLCS and promptly allowed four runs to the resilient Cardinals.
Insight: Storen gave up a leadoff double to Carlos Beltran but had St. Louis down to its final strike before walking two and giving up a game-tying single to Daniel Descalso. Pete Kozma followed with a go-ahead two-run single and Jason Motte slammed the door in the bottom of the ninth to hand the Nationals a devastating loss.

9/24/2012 8:32:00 PM
Description: Drew Storen will take over the closing duties for the Nationals.
Insight: Storen was one of the top closers in baseball a season ago but had his job taken away from him earlier in the year because of injuries and the superb play of Tyler Clippard. It's a little curious that manager Davey Johnson would tinker with his lineup this close to the postseason but Clippard has been struggling lately (10.80 ERA in his last eight appearances), so this move might be what's necessary for right now.

9/21/2012 9:04:00 PM
Description: Nationals manager Davey Johnson announced that Drew Storen and Tyler Clippard will share closing duties for the rest of the season, according to csnwashington.com.
Insight: Storen has made 31 appearances this season, posting a 2.59 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and three saves in three chances. Clippard has saved 32 games with a 3.22 ERA but he has a 7.04 ERA in September. If we had to choose one for fantasy purposes we'd go with Storen, as we expect Johnson to go with the hot hand.

7/19/2012 10:49:00 AM
Description: Nationals relief pitcher Drew Storen has officially been activated from the 60-day DL. He missed the entire first half of the season with an elbow injury.
Insight: While he was out, Storen lost his position as the team's closer. For now, he'll settle for setup duty though it might not be long until he reclaims his role as Washington's ninth-inning man as Tyler Clippard (2-3, 2.83 ERA) has struggled in his past few outings (0-1, 10.80 ERA in his last five appearances).

7/18/2012 7:42:00 PM
Description: Washington righthander Drew Storen is expected to come off the disabled list Thursday against the Mets. Storen missed the season's first three and a half months with an elbow injury.
Insight: Tyler Clippard (2-3, 2.45 ERA, 14-for-16 in save opportunities) seems to have a pretty good handle on the closer's role right now so Storen will likely be used as the team's setup man upon his return. He'd be next in line for the closer's job should Clippard suffer an injury or start struggling.

7/3/2012 3:31:00 PM
Description: Nationals reliever Drew Storen (elbow) will begin a minor league rehab assignment this Thursday.
Insight: Tyler Clippard (13 saves) has done well in Storen's absence and the collapse of Henry Rodriguez, so it will be interesting to see where manager Davey Johnson puts Storen when he returns. In 2011, Storen posted 43 saves with a 2.75 ERA and 1.02 WHIP.

6/29/2012 5:01:00 PM
Description: Nationals reliever Drew Storen (elbow) threw 40 pitches in live batting practice Friday, according to Mark Zuckerman of CSNWashington.com. He'll pitch in a two-inning simulated game Monday and then go out on a minor league rehab assignment.
Insight: Storen said his elbow feels better now than it did last year. The closer said the first game after the All-Star break "seems logical" for his return. Considering Tyler Clippard is 12-for-12 with a 0.00 ERA since he took over as Washington's closer at the end of May, the Nationals may choose to ease Storen back instead of handing him the closer role right away.

6/21/2012 6:52:00 PM
Description: Nationals reliever Drew Storen is scheduled to face live hitters Friday for the first time since he had elbow surgery.
Insight: Storen is throwing at about 85-90 percent, according to Dan Kolko of MASNsports.com. He's on track to return around the All-Star break.

6/16/2012 9:41:00 PM
Description: The Nationals believe they will have injured closer Drew Storen back before the All-Star break. Storen has been out all season because of an elbow injury.
Insight: Storen was dominant in his first full season as a closer last season (2.75 ERA, 43 saves in 48 chances) and should be again when he returns.

6/5/2012 8:41:00 PM
Description: Drew Storen (elbow) will likely start throwing off a mound over the next couple of weeks.
Insight: Storen is still on track to return around the All-Star break. He recently threw on back-to-back days for the first time since undergoing elbow surgery.

4/11/2012 7:34:00 PM
Description: Drew Storen had surgery to remove a bone chip from his right elbow.
Insight: Storen was originally expected to be back in mid-April, but he likely won't be back until July now. Brad Lidge and Henry Rodriguez will continue to share the closer duties, so they'll get a boost in value as long as Storen remains out.

4/9/2012 6:45:00 PM
Description: Drew Storen will make a visit to Dr. James Andrews after aggravating his elbow injury in a simulated game on Sunday.
Insight: Dr. James Andrews are the three words you never want to hear if you are a fantasy owner. Surgery is looking like a very real possibility for Storen right now. You'll have to settle for Henry Rodriguez and Brad Lidge, who seem to be sharing the closer duties for the Nationals right now.

4/5/2012 3:50:00 PM
Description: Drew Storen will start facing batters in seven to 10 days, and then report to an affiliate for a rehab assignment, the Washington Post reports.
Insight: Storen is on track to return in April, though you should probably prepare to be without him until the end of the month instead of expecting him back by mid-April as was initially estimated.

4/3/2012 2:39:00 AM
Description: Drew Storen (elbow) threw 25 pitches in a bullpen session on Tuesday. He said he really let it go for the first time and felt no pain, according to Dan Kolko of the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network
Insight: Storen is on track for a mid-April return. Brad Lidge and Henry Rodriguez will close while Storen is out, but they don't have much long-term value with Storen expected to be back soon.

3/28/2012 11:20:00 AM
Description: Nationals manager Davey Johnson has confirmed that closer Drew Storen will start the season on the DL, but thinks he will be back by mid-April, according to the Washington Post.
Insight: This was expected, even after it was announced that Storen's inflamed elbow was pain-free after he played catch on Tuesday. Brad Lidge and Henry Rodriguez are the short-term options to close games.

3/28/2012 10:57:00 AM
Description: Drew Storen's inflamed right elbow was pain-free after playing catch yesterday for the first time in a week. Storen could throw off a mound later this week, but he is still likely to begin the season on the disabled list, according to the Washington Post.
Insight: Storen owners continue to get positive news. Even if he begins the season on the DL, it sounds as though Storen is on the right track. Brad Lidge and Henry Rodriguez are the short-term options to close games if Storen is out.

3/27/2012 2:45:00 PM
Description: Drew Storen will play catch for the first time in a week. An MRI last week revealed inflammation but no structural damage to his ulnar collateral ligament. The closer could start the season on the DL.
Insight: The good news is that there's no structural damage, but Storen might not have enough time before the season starts to strengthen his arm. Brad Lidge and Henry Rodriguez are the short-term options to close games if Storen is out.
