Description: Reds closer Aroldis Chapman strikes out side for 36th save.
Insight: After missing the first few weeks of the season, Chapman did not miss a beat. He is a top-five closer in a ll of baseball.

9/23/2014 9:52:00 PM
Description: Reds closer Aroldis Chapman struck out the side for his 34th save.
Insight: He had to retire Ryan Braun with runners on the corners, to end the game. He did so by blowing Braun away with an 102 MPH fastball. Chapman has a 2.12 ERA, and has secured another monster season.

8/20/2014 6:51:00 PM
Description: Reds closer Aroldis Chapman (shoulder) should be good to go Wednesday, according to John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Insight: Chapman has been dealing with a sore shoulder the past two days. In his last appearance on Sunday, he walked all four batters he faced and J.J. Hoover allowed the remaining three to score after he replaced Chapman.

8/19/2014 10:45:00 AM
Description: Reds closer Aroldis Chapman was reportedly "not available" Monday night while dealing with an achy shoulder, according to manager Bryan Price.
Insight: That could explain his ugly outing Sunday in which he walked four batters and was pulled. His ERA will jump almost a full run to 2.82, but he's still an elite closer with 26 saves and 74 Ks in 38 1/3 IP. Consider him questionable for Tuesday.

Description: Reds closer Aroldis Chapman threw 28 pitches, 16 for balls, walking four batters without recording an out.
Insight: Chapman didn't appear to be hurt, just wild. Chalk this one up to a rare bad outing and move on. His ERA will jump almost a full run to 2.82, but he's still an elite closer with 26 saves and 74 Ks in 38 1/3 IP.

Description: Cincinnati closer Aroldis Chapman will be out 6-to-8 weeks after undergoing facial surgery on Thursday. Chapman took a line drive off the face Wednesday in a game against Kansas City. SOURCE: Reds on Twitter
Insight: The game was postponed after Chapman was taken off the field on a stretcher. He never lost consciousness but he did suffer a broken nose and orbital bone as well as a mild concussion. With Chapman sidelined, J.J. Hoover is likely to begin the season as the Reds' closer.

3/21/2013 4:55:00 PM
Description: Updating an earlier report, Reds GM Walt Jocketty and manager Dusty Baker said that no decision has been made regarding Aroldis Chapman's role, according to Mark Sheldon of MLB.com.
Insight: The Cincinnati Enquirer reported Thursday that the Reds were expected to announce that Chapman will close in 2013. Despite the denial by Reds' brass, fantasy owners should prepare to have Chapman as a closer in 2013 since both the player and manager want that to happen.

3/21/2013 11:21:00 AM
Description: The Aroldis Chapman experiment has come to an end. The Reds have decided to keep Chapman as their closer instead of moving him to the starting rotation. SOURCE: Cincinnati Enquirer
Insight: This played out almost exactly the same as when the Red Sox tried to move Jonathan Papelbon to the rotation in 2007. Some players are just meant to close. Chapman should have a great deal of fantasy value as Cincinnati's primary ninth inning man in 2013.

3/17/2013 11:41:00 AM
Description: According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Reds pitcher Aroldis Chapman would prefer to close in 2013.
Insight: This echoes the sentiment of manager Dusty Baker though the front office is still grooming Chapman to become a starter. Chapman loses velocity on his fastball when he pitches deeper into games and his control issues in the past could be an issue if the Reds are serious about using him as a starter. Obviously Chapman's fantasy value is higher as a closer than it would be in the rotation.
