Description: Braves starter Julio Teheran triumphed Wednesday in an epic pitching battle with Phillies left-hander Cliff Lee.
Insight: Teheran (9 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 4 K's, 0 BB) and Lee (9 IP, 11 H, 1 R, 13 K's, 1 BB) both tossed complete games. Teheran's was the first of his career. He hasn't allowed more than two earned runs in any of his four starts this season.

Description: Atlanta starter Julio Teheran has agreed to a six-year contract extension. SOURCE: ESPN
Insight: The deal is worth $32.4 million. The 23-year-old was outstanding as a rookie, posting a 3.20 ERA in 30 starts last season. He should be even better in 2014.

9/2/2013 5:48:00 PM
Description: Braves pitcher Julio Teheran will not start again until Sept. 10, according to beat writer David O'Brien.
Insight: Atlanta is skipping him to limit his innings in his first full big league season. He has 161 1/3, up from 137 1/3 last season. Teheran has been one of the top rookies in the NL this season, going 11-7 with a 3.01 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP.

Hot8/18/2013 6:06:00 PM
Description: Atlanta rookie Julio Teheran blanked the Nationals over six innings Sunday in a 2-1 win.
Insight: Teheran is 3-1 with a 1.75 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP in six starts since the All-Star break.

Hot8/6/2013 10:05:00 PM
Description: Atlanta rookie Julio Teheran dropped his ERA below 3.00 for the first time this season Tuesday.
Insight: Teheran has slowly but surely reduced his ERA from 7.31 on April 18 to 2.96 after Tuesday's six-inning, one-run effort in a win over Washington. Over his last 19 starts, he has posted a 2.38 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP, an 8.11 K/9, a 1.71 BB/9 and a 0.82 HR/9.

7/27/2013 7:40:00 PM
Description: Atlanta rookie Julio Teheran surrendered just two hits Saturday in a no-decision against the Cardinals.
Insight: Teheran (7 IP, 0 R, 6 K's) has a 0.69 ERA in his last two starts. Unfortunately, the Braves have only scored a combined four runs in those games so Teheran is winless over that span. The two runs Atlanta scored on Saturday both came after Teheran was already out of the game.

Hot7/9/2013 10:27:00 PM
Description: Braves starter Julio Teheran fired 7 1/3 innings and allowed seven hits and four runs (one earned) Tuesday in a win over the Marlins.
Insight: Teheran allowed a two-out, three-run homer to Rob Brantly in the second inning, but all three runs were unearned because Chris Johnson made an error earlier in the inning. Teheran is 7-4 with a 3.09 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP and should be owned in all leagues.

Hot6/5/2013 7:01:00 PM
Description: Braves starter Julio Teheran took a no-hitter into the eighth inning and finished with eight scoreless one-hit innings and 11 strikeouts Wednesday against the Pirates.
Insight: After a strong spring, Teheran posted a 7.31 ERA over his first three starts, but is 4-2 with a 2.13 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP over his last eight. The former top prospect has entered the race for the National League Rookie of the Year.

Hot5/20/2013 10:08:00 PM
Description: Julio Teheran limited the Twins to just five hits and one run over 8 1/3 innings Monday in a 5-1 Braves victory.
Insight: He's 3-1 with a 2.41 ERA in his last five starts. Teheran's next outing is scheduled for Sunday against the Mets.

4/29/2013 10:22:00 PM
Description: Braves righty Julio Teheran allowed only two runs Monday against Washington, but he gave up 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings.
Insight: Teheran has given up three earned over his last 12 1/3 innings despite allowing 18 hits in that span. While those are better results than his first three starts, they're just not good enough to convince fantasy owners to hold onto him. Through five starts, he has a 5.08 ERA and a 1.66 WHIP and has struck out 20 batters in 28 1/3 innings.

4/25/2013 2:28:00 PM
Description: Braves righty Julio Teheran had his best start of the season Tuesday at Colorado, going seven innings and allowing eight hits and one run. He struck out three and didn't walk a batter to pick up his first win of the season.
Insight: Teheran's strong spring didn't carry over to his first three starts -- he allowed 21 hits and 13 earned runs and walked seven batters in 16 innings -- but he is worth holding onto for a few more starts after Tuesday's effort.

4/18/2013 10:31:00 PM
Description: Braves right-hander Julio Teheran's dominant spring has not carried over to the regular season. He has a 7.31 ERA and 1.75 WHIP through three starts.
Insight: Teheran has walked seven batters and allowed five homers in 16 innings, but he also has had some bad luck in first innings this year. In his first start, Jason Heyward lost a ball in the lights for a leadoff double, and in his second start, Chris Johnson threw the ball away on a play that was ruled an infield single. And Thursday, Andrew McCutchen's broken bat bloop to right field barely eluded a diving Heyward's glove for a one-out double. He hasn't been good by any stretch of the imagination, but he still has potential to help fantasy teams soon. However, he's running out of time.

Hot4/6/2013 10:38:00 PM
Description: Braves right-hander Julio Teheran had a rough first outing Saturday against the Cubs, allowing five runs on eight hits in five innings. He walked one and struck out two.
Insight: Teheran led the majors in strikeouts this spring to reestablish his status as a top prospect. He had some bad luck early, as he gave up a double to the leadoff batter after Jason Heyward lost a flyball in the lights, but he also allowed two no-doubt home runs and two doubles. We'll give him a few more starts.

Hot3/23/2013 5:54:00 PM
Description: Braves right-hander Julio Teheran fanned 10 batters over six hitless innings Saturday against the Astros to lower his ERA to 1.04 this spring. Teheran has struck out 35 batters and allowed just seven hits in 26 spring innings.
Insight: Teheran had a rough year in Triple-A last season, posting a 5.08 ERA in 131 innings, but MLB.com still rates him as the No. 31 overall prospect in baseball. He's still just 22 and should be owned in all leagues on potential alone.

3/14/2013 3:22:00 PM
Description: Braves prospect Julio Teheran has only allowed four hits while striking out 18 batters in 14 innings this spring.
Insight: At the request of the team, Teheran worked on his sinker during winter ball and is seeing immediate results. He had a rough year in Triple-A last season, posting a 5.08 ERA in 131 innings, but MLB.com still rates him as the No. 31 overall prospect in baseball. He's still just 22 and should be owned in most 12-team leagues on potential alone.

6/10/2012 6:56:00 PM
Description: Braves prospect Julio Teheran has been sent down to Triple-A Gwinnett, as expected. Teheran was called up to start in place of temporarily injured pitcher Tim Hudson (ankle) and was to be sent down immediately following the game regardless of performance.
Insight: Teheran allowed four runs on four hits in 4 1/3 innings against Toronto Sunday. He walked one and struck out five. The 21-year-old right-hander sports a 3.15 ERA in 11 Triple-A starts this season, but he has an ERA above 5.00 in six major league appearances.

6/9/2012 7:30:00 PM
Description: Julio Teheran has been called up from Triple-A Gwinnett. He'll start in Tim Hudson's place Sunday against the Blue Jays.
Insight: This will be Teheran's first appearance at the major league level this season. The 21-year-old was 1-1 with a 5.03 ERA in five games with the Braves in 2011. Teheran was 5-2 with a 3.15 ERA in 11 starts for Gwinnett before his promotion Saturday.

5/17/2012 11:24:00 PM
Description: Braves prospect Julio Teheran took the loss on Thursday for Triple-A Gwinnett. Teheran gave up four runs on seven hits and five walks in 2 2/3 innings.
Insight: This outing comes at a poor time for Teheran. Mike Minor has given up 27 earned runs in his last four starts, so the Braves may call up Teheran to replace him soon. On the year, Teheran, the No. 4 prospect on MLB.com's top 100 list, is 3-2 with a 3.31 ERA on the season.

4/2/2012 3:25:00 PM
Description: Braves prospect Julio Teheran, rated by MLB.com as the No. 4 prospect in baseball, was sent down to Triple A Gwinnett.
Insight: The 21-year-old Teheran had an ERA of 9.37 and forced the Braves hand. Randall Delgado has won the fifth spot in the Braves' rotation...at least until Tim Hudson returns.

3/26/2012 11:49:00 AM
Description: Braves prospect Julio Teheran has surrendered nine homers in just 13 innings in spring training. Teheran, rated by MLB.com as the No. 4 prospect in baseball, is battling Randall Delgado for the fifth spot in the Braves' rotation.
Insight: The 21-year-old Teheran gave up six home runs in his spring debut vs. Detroit, so his rotation campaign never really got off the ground. Still, Teheran's pedigree insists that you keep him on your radar, though he'll have to keep the ball in the ballpark if he's going to excel at any level, much less the big leagues.
