Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau is 12-for-38 (.316) with four home runs against Dodgers right-hander Roberto Hernandez.
Insight: Morneau put together a fine season, batting .317 with 16 home runs, 80 RBI and an .851 OPS. Not quite his MVP days in Minnesota, but a solid fantasy contribution nonetheless and a favorable matchup.

Hot9/20/2014 10:00:00 AM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau is 5-for-8 (.625) with a home run against Diamondbacks right-hander Trevor Cahill.
Insight: Morneau is batting .355 over the past two weeks and with this favorable at bat should be started in all lineups. He's put together a fine season, batting .317 with 16 home runs, 79 RBI and an .852 OPS. Not quite his MVP days in Minnesota, but a solid fantasy contribution nonetheless.

9/17/2014 12:11:00 AM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau went 2-for-4 with a RBI and two runs to help the Rockies beat the Dodgers, 10-4, on Tuesday.
Insight: Pirates third baseman Josh Harrison went 1-for-4, so Morneau crept a little closer to the batting title lead in the National League. One batting point separates the two hitters. Morneau is batting .316 with 15 home runs and 73 RBI this year.

9/15/2014 6:23:00 PM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau (intercostal) is in the lineup for Monday's game against the LA Dodgers and he's got a favorable matchup.
Insight: Morneau is batting .333 (12-for-36) with four homers and 12 RBI against Dodgers right-hander Roberto Hernandez. Morneau has been a solid fantasy option all season with a .315 batting average, 15 HR and 72 RBI. He'll never be the MVP slugger he was back in Minnesota, but he still holds fantasy value.

9/15/2014 9:55:00 AM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau (intercostal) is questionable for Monday's game against the LA Dodgers, but if he's in the lineup he's got a favorable matchup.

9/14/2014 10:54:00 AM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau (intercostal) is expected to return to the lineup soon according to the Denver Post.
Insight: Not exactly what owners wanted to hear. What does soon actually mean? The Denver Post did not actually specify, which is really frustrating. But with the National League batting title on the line, Morneau has a reason to get back into the lineup as soon as possible. Until he is ready, Ben Paulsen will be playing first base for the Rockies.

9/8/2014 6:36:00 PM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau is not in Monday's lineup against the Mets.
Insight: It's probably just a routine night off. Michael Cuddyer will make the start at first base. Morneau is likely being eased back into action slowly after his hamstring strain.

9/7/2014 9:48:00 AM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau went 4-for-6, belting his 15th home run of the season, on Saturday against the Padres.
Insight: The big day has put Morneau right back up with the National League leaders in average. He is currently one point behind Josh Harrison at .314 for the batting title. Morneau also has 72 RBI, 50 runs and a .845 OPS to go along with the .314 average and 15 homers. With two more years remaining on his Colorado contract, we expect Morneau to continue these kind of numbers, hitting in Coors Field the next two seasons.

9/3/2014 8:13:00 PM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau knocked in his 70th run of the season and with two hits raised his average to .312.
Insight: Morneau is having a solid bounce back season, but he could end up playing elsewhere in 2015, as the Rockies did put him on revocable waivers, but couldn't work out a deal with Milwaukee. Although Milwaukee is a good place to hit, fantasy owners probably would like him to stay in Colorado.

8/24/2014 2:18:00 PM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau is not in Sunday's starting lineup.
Insight: It appears to be a routine day off after he went 0-for-6 Saturday night. He's batting .314 with 14 HR and 67 RBI.

8/23/2014 10:10:00 AM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau went 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk and two RBI Friday against Miami.
Insight: Due to teammate Troy Tulowitzki's season-ending hip injury, Morneau is now in the lead for the NL batting title with a .319 average. If he wins, it will give Colorado back-to-back batting champions (Michael Cuddyer won it last year).

8/19/2014 4:56:00 PM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau returns to the starting lineup on Tuesday against the Royals.
Insight: Morneau missed a few games due to a lingering neck injury. Before the injury, Morneau had a 10-game hitting streak, which he will take into Tuesday's game. The first baseman is having a great season, currently leading the National League with a .323 batting average.

8/18/2014 1:53:00 PM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau missed both games of Colorado's double header against Cincinnati on Sunday. The Rockies also scratched Morneau from Saturday's lineup due to a sore neck.
Insight: The first baseman went on the 15-day disabled list in July with a neck strain. Morneau could miss more time as the neck injury continues to linger. The 33-year-old is having a bounce back season, hitting .323 with 13 home runs and 65 RBI.

8/17/2014 11:45:00 AM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau has a career .625 batting average versus Reds Game 2 pitcher Dylan Axelrod. Update - Morneau will not start in Game 1.
Insight: Morneau has been solid this season, batting .323 with 13 HR and 65 RBI. The return of Michael Cuddyer to the lineup should help both Morneau and Nolan Arenado.

7/27/2014 1:30:00 PM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau (neck) will begin a rehab assignment Monday, according to Thomas Harding of mlb.com.
Insight: If all goes well, Morneau (.312, 13 HR, 60 RBI, .846 OPS) will push to return when he is first eligible on Tuesday.
