Insight: If Wieters, who was diagnosed with a strained elbow, can't turn it around, surgery is possible. Wieters (.308, 5 HR, 18 RBI) was hitting like an All-Star before he was sidelined and this would be a huge blow to the Orioles and fantasy owners. Update: Wieters has an appointment with Dr. James Andrews.

Insight: Passan reported earlier today that Wieters will visit Dr. James Andrews to have his sore elbow checked out and that he may have a torn UCL. Even if he doesn't need Tommy John surgery, it looks like the O's will place the catcher on the DL.

Insight: Wieters has sat out frequently since late April due to forearm soreness and he may have a torn UCL, which would require Tommy John surgery. He's having a strong year offensively, hitting .337 with five home runs, 18 RBI and a .942 OPS, so a serious injury would be unfortunate.
