American League Preview from The Sports Network

Sunday, August 11th (All times Eastern)

LA Angels of Anaheim (53-62) at Cleveland Indians (62-55), 1:05 p.m.

Probable Starting Pitchers: LA Angels - Jerome Williams (5-8, 4.77) Cleveland - Justin Masterson (13-8, 3.46)

(Sports Network) - In order for the Angels to complete their first series sweep of the Indians since 2004, they'll likely need Jerome Williams to get his first victory in two months.

The last time the Angels swept the Indians was in a three-game set from Sept. 3-5, 2004 in Cleveland. They'll look to match that feat in Sunday afternoon's finale.

Williams is 0-6 over his last 10 appearances, but not all of them have been starts. The right-hander's last win came June 12 at Baltimore. He's never faced the Indians.

Justin Masterson, today's Cleveland starter, is 3-0 in 10 career appearances (7 starts) against the Angels with a 2.10 ERA. The righty had a three-start winning streak broken Tuesday in a 5-1 loss to Detroit. Masterson gave up seven hits and five runs in seven innings.

Last night, J.B. Shuck went 2-for-3 with two RBI and four other Los Angeles players contributed an RBI apiece in a 7-2 final. Erick Aybar, Chris Nelson, Mike Trout and Kole Calhoun each drove in a run for the Angels. Chris Iannetta walked three times and scored twice as the Angels moved to 18-9 versus the AL Central.

C.J. Wilson (12-6) needed 117 pitches to get through 5 1/3 innings, but it was enough to pick up the win. He allowed two runs on seven hits and four walks. The 32-year-old southpaw has not lost since July 5 against the Red Sox and has won eight of his last 11 starts.

"It was a battle to get ahead of the guys today," Wilson said.

Michael Bourn and Drew Stubbs had an RBI apiece for the Indians, who have lost six straight to fall eight games behind the Tigers atop the AL Central and four games behind the Athletics for the second wild-card spot.

"How you handle frustrations is how your season is defined," Indians manager Terry Francona said. "When we play as a team, we're pretty good, so that's what we have to do. We just have to grind through it."

Starter Ubaldo Jimenez (8-7) gave up three runs -- two earned -- on five hits and three walks over 6 1/3 innings.

Cleveland won last season's series, 5-4.
