Description: Giants starter Madison Bumgarner will look to help give San Francisco a 3-2 series lead, heading back to Kansas City.
Insight: This is the guy the Giants want on the mound in this pivotal Game 5, as Bumgarner went seven strong innings in Game 1, allowing only one run on three hits, and struck out five. After winning the NLCS MVP Award, Bumgarner will look to earn those honors in the World Series as well.

10/23/2014 5:18:00 PM
Description: Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Friday the team is discussing the possibility to start Madison Bumgarner in Game 4 of the World Series on short rest according to Comcast SportsNet Bay Area.
Insight: If the Giants win Game 3 then it seems unlikely Bochy will use his ace for Game 4 on short rest, but if the Giants lose, it is on the table. Bumgarner would also be available to start Game 7 on short rest if he starts Game 4. Right now, Ryan Vogelsong is slated to start Game 4.

10/22/2014 9:17:00 AM
Description: Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner pitched the team to a Game 1 victory on Tuesday night.
Insight: Bumgarner was fantastic over seven innings of work, allowing only one run on three hits and one walk, while striking out five. The NLCS MVP could be on his way to a World Series MVP Award.

10/18/2014 7:19:00 PM
Description: Giants ace Madison Bumgarner will start Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday.
Insight: Surprise, surprise. Bumgarner finished the Cardinals in Game 5 of the NLCS on Thursday, so he will have regular rest. Bumgarner will face "Big Game" James Shields from Kansas City.

10/12/2014 12:55:00 AM
Description: Just another great performance from Giants starter Madison Bumgarner, beating the Cardinals in the first game of the NLCS 3-0.
Insight: It's what we have come to expect from the 25-year-old. Bumgarner threw 7 2/3 scoreless innings yielding four hits and a walk while striking out seven.

10/6/2014 8:01:00 PM
Description: Giants starter Madison Bumgarner pitches well but makes costly error in Game 3 of NLDS.
Insight: He was sailing along through six innings, but after allowing the first two runners to reach in the seventh, Bumgarner fielded a Wilson Ramos bunt, and inexplicably threw to third base. The throw was wide, resulting in two runs. Bumgarner's final line was seven innings, three runs (two earned) on six hits and one walk, with six strikeouts. Game 4 will be Tuesday.

10/6/2014 11:26:00 AM
Description: Giants starter Madison Bumgarner was stellar in his Wild Card outing versus Pittsburgh and will be a tough matchup for Washington Monday night.
Insight: Bumgarner threw a four-hit, 10-strikeout shutout in the winner-take-all Wild Card game Wednesday night. He's now 4-2 (2-0 in the World Series) with a 3.02 ERA and 1.097 WHIP in eight games (seven starts). That's a pretty good resume for anyone, much less a 25-year-old.

Hot10/2/2014 9:57:00 AM

Hot10/1/2014 10:39:00 AM
Description: Giants starter Madison Bumgarner will likely not be rattled in the NL Wild Card game like Johnny Cueto was a season ago.
Insight: Bumgarner is one of the most poised 25-year-old pitchers there is in the game and there certainly isn't one more fiery. Just about a week ago, he basically challenged headcase Yasiel Puig to a fight. San Francisco didn't have many choices as to who to start for this game, but they have the right guy on the mound.

Hot9/17/2014 9:17:00 AM
Description: Giants starter Madison Bumgarner has been on a tear of late, as he heads into today's start against the Diamondbacks.
Insight: Bumgarner is arguably the hottest pitcher in baseball with a record of 5-0 and a 1.80 ERA, over the past 28 days. He has a ridiculous 41 strikeouts during during that span. To pump up owners even more, this guy is 11-3 with a 2.00 ERA on the road in 2014. Expect big things this afternoon, when the Giants finish off a series in Arizona

Hot8/27/2014 10:29:00 AM
Description: Giants starter Madison Bumgarner pitched a one-hit shutout, striking out 13 and walking none, in the 3-0 victory over the Rockies on Tuesday.
Insight: Bumgarner was nearly perfect as he did not give up the lone hit until Justin Morneau belted a double in the eighth. That was the only Rockies baserunner all night. In Bumgarner's last five starts, the pitcher is 3-1 in 40 innings pitched with a 1.58 ERA, 49 strikeouts, just two walks and has two complete game shutouts. Bumgarner is 13-9 with a 3.14 ERA, a 1.14 WHIP and 167 Ks in 169 innings. He's on pace for a career high in innings and strikeouts.

Hot8/16/2014 1:39:00 PM

Description: Giants starter Madison Bumgarner tossed a gem Sunday at Arizona, going eight innings and allowing just an unearned run on two hits.
Insight: Bumgarner was headed for his second shutout, but a throwing error and an infield single to start the ninth inning ended his day at 112 pitches. The left-hander is 9-4 with a 2.63 ERA and a 111/25 K/BB in 102 2/3 innings this season.

Hot6/5/2014 4:09:00 PM
Description: Giants starter Madison Bumgarner posted another quality outing, going eight innings and yielding just three hits and a run.
Insight: Bumgarner (8-3) has allowed one run or less in his last three starts to lower his ERA to 2.68. He's a top-tier fantasy starter and still just 24-years-old.

5/25/2014 8:55:00 PM
Description: Giants starter Madison Bumgarner had his second 10-K game of the season Sunday against the Twins.
Insight: Bumgarner allowed one run on three hits in seven innings to lower his ERA to 3.15. He has 75 strikeouts and 17 walks in 65 2/3 innings this season. The left-hander's WHIP is 1.32 because his BABIP is .346, but that will correct itself over time.

4/5/2014 8:30:00 PM
Description: Giants starter Madison Bumgarner fanned 10 Dodgers in 6 1/3 innings Saturday afternoon.
Insight: Bumgarner only went four innings on Opening Day, though all four runs he gave up were unearned. The left-hander is still just 24 but he has thrown 200+ innings and fanned 191-199 batters in each of the last three seasons.

2/25/2014 3:49:00 PM
Description: Madison Bumgarner will be San Francisco's Opening Day starter, according to manager Bruce Bochy.
Insight: This isn't a huge surprise. He was San Francisco's best pitcher last season, going 13-9 with a 2.77 ERA and 199 strikeouts in 201 1/3 innings. Even Matt Cain acknowledged that he should get the honor.

9/24/2013 8:44:00 PM
Description: Giants lefty Madison Bumgarner will not make another start this season.
Insight: The Giants are eliminated from contention and don't want to risk the 24-year-old throwing any more innings this season. He has been San Francisco's ace, going 13-9 with a 2.77 ERA and 199 strikeouts in 201 1/3 innings. 7/28/2013 9:28:00 AM
Description: San Francisco lefty Madison Bumgarner racked up seven strikeouts in eight innings of shutout work Saturday against Chicago.
Insight: Bumgarner has been in cruise control for the last month, collecting a 1.80 ERA in his last eight outings. He's gone at least seven innings in each of those appearances. Bumgarner has won five times in that span, though the Giants' stagnant offense has prevented him from winning his last two starts.
