Description: Nationals starter Jordan Zimmermann was one out away from a complete game shutout victory in Game 2 of the NLDS.
Insight: Zimmerman then walked Joe Panik to put the tying run on base with Buster Posey coming to the plate. Manager Matt Williams went to his closer Drew Storen, who allowed back-to-back hits as the Giants tied the game 1-1. The Nationals actually threw out Posey at the plate for the third out, otherwise, the Giants would have taken the lead. Zimmerman finished with eight 2/3 innings, one run on three hits, six strikeouts and one walk.

10/4/2014 9:24:00 AM
Description: Nationals starter Jordan Zimmermann will look to pull Washington even today during Game 2 of the NLDS.
Insight: He pitched a no-hitter in the final start of the regular season, and now there is even greater pressure today. Zimmerman had one start against the Giants in 2014, and it went well. He went eight innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, while striking out eight, and earned the win. The Nationals will need a similar performance if they do not want to head to San Francisco on the brink of elimination.

Insight: What a way to go out. Zimmerman's only blemish on his line was one walk in a 1-0 victory. He struck out 10, and finishes the year at 14-5 with a 2.66 ERA

9/28/2014 9:15:00 AM
Description: Nationals starter Jordan Zimmermann could be in line for a pitcher's duel on Sunday.
Insight: Zimmerman may not be asked to go to far into the game, as Washington has already locked up home-field advantage throughout the National League Playoffs. Yet, it does not take away from the intrigue. Zimmerman is 3-0 with a 1.45 ERA and 0.96 WHIP over his last three starts. Opposing starter, Miami's Henerson Alvarez comes in on fire as well, going 2-0 with a 1.31 ERA and 1.11 WHIP throughout his past three starts. Expect a low-scoring game.

Zimmerman has been fantastic this season with a 2.78 ERA. Drew Storen shut the door on the Marlins, to seal the win.
