American League Preview from The Sports Network

Friday, April 11th (All times eastern)

Cleveland Indians (5-5) at Chicago White Sox (5-5), 8:10 p.m.

Probable Starting Pitchers: Cleveland - Carlos Carrasco (0-1, 6.35) Chicago - Chris Sale (2-0, 1.76)

(SportsNetwork.com) - Chicago southpaw Chris Sale aims to snap a four-start skid against the Cleveland Indians on Friday night when the White Sox host them for game two of a four-game series at U.S. Cellular Field.

Sale is 2-0 with a 1.76 earned run average through two successful outings to begin 2014, but he was miserable for all of 2013 against the Indians, who beat him four times while running up a combined .340 batting average.

The Florida Gulf Coast University product's ERA in those games was 8.61.

Cleveland's Nick Swisher has four hits in eight career at-bats against Sale, while Carlos Santana has nine hits in two at-bats.

He's opposed by Cleveland right-hander Carlos Carrasco, who was tagged for five runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings of a 7-3 loss to Minnesota on Saturday.

The Venezuelan is winless in five career meetings with the White Sox, posting an 0-3 record and a 6.75 earned run average.

Cleveland's Alejandro De Aza is 4-for-7 and has driven in three runs against Carrasco.

On Thursday, Jose Abreu knocked in three runs on a pair of homers, helping the White Sox post a 7-3 victory and end a streak of 14 consecutive losses to the Indians.

Alexei Ramirez also had a pair of hits, including a solo homer, and his two- run double in the fourth inning snapped a 3-3 tie, before John Danks and two relievers finished.

Danks (1-0) rebounded from a rocky start to hold the Indians to three runs over six innings, with Daniel Webb and Matt Lindstrom not allowing a baserunner over the final three frames.

Adam Eaton went 2-for-4 with an RBI single for Chicago, which hadn't bested the Tribe since Apr. 24 of last season and found out prior to the contest that starting right fielder Avisail Garcia would require season-ending surgery for a shoulder injury he sustained in Wednesday's loss at Colorado.

Cleveland's Danny Salazar (0-1) racked up 10 strikeouts in just 3 2/3 innings, but served up two of the White Sox' three homers and was tagged for five runs overall.

Asdrubal Cabrera finished 2- for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored for the Indians, with Ryan Raburn also collecting two hits and an RBI in the loss, Cleveland's fourth in six outings after a 3-1 start.

Cleveland was 17-2 versus the White Sox last season.
