American League Game Summary - Houston at Chicago

(Saturday, July 19)

Final Score: Chicago 4, Houston 3

Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Tyler Flowers was the hero for the second straight game, finishing 3-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Chicago White Sox to a 4-3 triumph over the Houston Astros in the middle installment of a three- game set from U.S. Cellular Field.

Flowers delivered the game-winning RBI double in the seventh inning of Friday's 3-2 ChiSox victory and came through in similar fashion in this one, plating what proved to be the final run in the fifth with a two-bagger to left to break a 3-3 tie.

"I'm just trying to learn how to trust myself," Flowers said. "The kind of things that slip away from hitters all the time, it took a while to get a grasp back on that. I think that's what I'm grabbing a hold of right now."

Hector Noesi (4-7) picked up the win, yielding three runs on six hits over six innings of work. Four relievers held the lead from there, with Ronald Belisario striking out three in two hitless frames.

Houston starter Dallas Keuchel (9-6) was charged with four runs -- three earned -- on 12 hits in the loss. He has given up at least four runs in five straight outings, falling to 1-3 during that stretch.

"He did a good job of battling," said Astros manager Bo Porter. "You look at the amount of trouble which he was in and to minimize it to four runs, he did a tremendous job of battling."

Alejandro De Aza tripled with one away in the home fifth, setting the table for Flowers' double to the wall in left-center. De Aza had two hits and two runs scored.

Adam Eaton went 3-for-4 for Chicago, which has won five of six at home. Jose Abreu singled in the fourth inning to extend his hit streak to 10 games. Chicago's star rookie has hit safely in 28 of the last 29 games.

The Sox opened a 3-0 lead, pushing a run across in the second and two more in the third.

De Aza and Flowers each singled with two outs in the second. Adam Eaton then reached on an infield single to shortstop and De Aza scored on Marwin Gonzalez's error.

Conor Gillaspie singled home a run in the third and Flowers was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded for a 3-0 spread.

George Springer's towering home run to lead off the fourth put the Astros on the scoreboard, and Jose Altuve's two-run double in the top of the fifth briefly tied it.

After Belisario took care of the seventh and eighth innings, Jake Petricka started the ninth and picked up the first two outs around a walk and infield single. Zach Putnam came on and struck out Jason Castro to strand two and end the game.

Game Notes
