Description: Mariners center fielder Franklin Gutierrez (hamstring) is questionable for Tuesday's game against Pittsburgh.
Insight: Gutierrez has been good when he's in the lineup (.267, 5 HR, 11 RBI, .874 OPS in 18 games), it's just he can't keep himself on the field. Of course, that's always been his problem.

Description: Mariners center fielder Franklin Gutierrez will be sidelined for the next 2-to-3 weeks as he recovers from a Grade 1 hamstring strain. SOURCE: Shannon Drayer, MyNorthwest.com
Insight: Gutierrez has historically been a slow healer so three weeks to a month is probably a more realistic timetable. Endy Chavez (.263, 0 HR, 3 RBI) has been starting at center field in Gutierrez's place.

4/23/2013 4:55:00 PM
Description: Seattle center fielder Franklin Gutierrez (hamstring) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Insight: Gutierrez (.259, 4 HR, 10 RBI) has been in and out of the lineup lately with groin issues and suffered a hamstring strain Monday when he attempted to make a diving catch. The oft-injured outfielder has missed 197 games and counting since the start of the 2011 season.

Description: Seattle center fielder Franklin Gutierrez exited Monday's game against Houston because of hamstring tightness. SOURCE: Greg Johns, MLB.com
Insight: Gutierrez (.259, 4 HR, 10 RBI) just keeps finding new ways to get hurt. He's now missed 197 games since the start of the 2011 season. This latest injury should sideline Gutierrez for at least the next couple of days.

4/20/2013 6:22:00 PM
Description: Mariners center fielder Franklin Gutierrez (groin) will return to the lineup Saturday against the Rangers.
Insight: Gutierrez has missed four of the last six games due to a groin issue.

4/16/2013 5:57:00 PM
Description: Mariners center fielder Franklin Gutierrez (groin) is back in the lineup Tuesday against the Tigers.

4/13/2013 8:40:00 PM
Description: Mariners center fielder Franklin Gutierrez won't be in the lineup Saturday against Texas. Gutierrez is dealing with groin tightness.
Insight: After a few sub-par seasons it looks like Gutierrez has finally found his power stroke again (.649 SLUG, .956 OPS). Former Baltimore outfielder Endy Chavez (.250 AVG) will take over in center field with Gutierrez getting the night off.

8/29/2012 7:51:00 PM
Description: Seattle center fielder Franklin Gutierrez will be on the sidelines for Wednesday's tilt against Minnesota.
Insight: Gutierrez is 1-for-6 with two walks and a pair of stolen bases since his return from the DL on Monday. Chone Figgins (.189, 2 HR, 11 RBI) is getting the start in his place.

8/27/2012 7:48:00 PM
Description: Mariners outfielder Franklin Gutierrez has been activated from the 15-day disabled list. He'll bat second and start in center field Monday night against the Twins.

8/13/2012 10:27:00 PM
Description: Seattle outfielder Franklin Gutierrez has encountered a setback in his recovery from a concussion that has sidelined him since late June.
Insight: At this point, 2012 looks like a lost season for Gutierrez, who has only been healthy enough to compete in 13 games at the major league level this year.

6/29/2012 12:26:00 PM
Description: Mariners outfielder Franklin Gutierrez was diagnosed with a concussion after getting hit in the face by an errant throw Thursday night in a game against Boston.
Insight: Gutierrez should be a candidate for MLB's new 7-day DL for head injuries. He is hitting .267 with two homers and nine RBIs in 13 games since his return from the disabled list on June 14.

6/13/2012 9:12:00 PM
Description: The Mariners activated outfielder Franklin Gutierrez from the DL on Wednesday. Gutierrez has yet to play in a major league game so far in 2012, missing time with pectoral and heel injuries.
Insight: Gutierrez is expected to start in center field in Thursday's series finale against the Padres. He was terrible last season (.224, 1 HR, 19 RBIs) but he finished with 12 HRs and 64 RBIs in 2010, so you might want to keep an eye out for Gutierrez if you're struggling to find a fourth or fifth outfielder.

4/1/2012 3:11:00 PM
Description: Franklin Gutierrez (pectoral injury) has been cleared to throw and should be able to return to Seattle's outfield sometime in late April.
Insight: Gutierrez was a fantasy no-show last year, (.224, 1 HR, 19 RBIs), and there's nothing to think that he won't be again in 2012. Gutierrez is not a likely candidate for a rebound season. If you have a chance to take him, pass on that opportunity.
