American League Game Summary - Oakland at Toronto

Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - J.A. Happ tossed seven shutout innings, Jose Bautista knocked in two runs and the Toronto Blue Jays completed a three-game sweep of Oakland by beating the Athletics 3-1 on Sunday at Rogers Centre.

Happ (4-1) scattered four hits, walked three and struck out seven, and Edwin Encarnacion homered in the Blue Jays' season-high sixth straight win.

"We're playing together as a team, pitching good," Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes said. "Good defense behind the guys, timely hitting, winning teams do that kind of stuff."

The A's are trending the other way, losing a season-worst four in a row to conclude a nine-game road trip at 5-4. Oakland's Drew Pomeranz (4-2) was charged with two runs on five hits and four walks in four-plus innings.

"I tried to locate a little too much," Pomeranz said.

Pomeranz had tossed five scoreless innings in each of his first three starts this season and kept Toronto off the board until Encarnacion crushed a pitch down the left-field line with one out in the fourth.

The southpaw pitched out of a bases-loaded jam later in the frame, getting Erik Kratz to ground into a double-play, but he was relieved by Jim Johnson after the Blue Jays had the bags full with no outs in the fifth.

Bautista ripped Johnson's first pitch to left field for an RBI single. Reyes also tried to score but was thrown out at the plate by Yoenis Cespedes.

Reyes finished with three stolen bases. He swiped second and third after leading off the seventh with a base hit before hustling home on a Bautista sacrifice fly.

Oakland got on the board when Josh Donaldson homered off Dustin McGowan to begin the eighth, but the reliever retired the next three batters.

Casey Janssen worked a flawless ninth to earn his seventh save.

Game Notes

Toronto swept Oakland in a series of at least three games for the first time since taking four straight at home from Aug. 4-7, 2008 ... Encarnacion leads the majors with 12 home runs in May ... The Blue Jays have homered in eight straight games and recorded an extra-base hit in 36 consecutive games ... Toronto manager John Gibbons was ejected by home plate umpire Mark Carlson in the bottom of the fifth after arguing a call that was upheld by replay.
