American League Game Summary - Chicago at Kansas City

(Saturday, June 22nd)

Final Score: Chicago 3, Kansas City 2

Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Alejandro De Aza hit a tie-breaking sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to help lift the Chicago White Sox over the Kansas City Royals, 3-2, in the second test of a three-game series at Kauffman Stadium.

Dayan Viciedo started the ninth with a single to center off Aaron Crow (3-3) and was replaced by pinch-runner Jordan Danks. Jeff Keppinger drew a walk and Danks advanced to third on a Gordon Beckham flyout before scoring on De Aza's fly ball to right.

"I think we're a better team than what we've done so far," said Crow. "I think we have the potential to win a lot more games than we have, so we've just got to figure out what to do and start winning more games."

The Royals had a chance to plate a run in the eighth with runners on second and third with two outs, but Jesse Crain (2-1) was able to strike out Lorenzo Cain to escape the jam. Addison Reed faced the minimum in the ninth to collect his 21st save of the year.

"I don't think about it too much until I'm asked about it all the time," said Crain about his scoreless streak of 29 straight appearances. "Obviously it's been brought up a lot lately, so I can't say it's not in my head. Every time I go out there I try to stay focused."

Keppinger had his second three-hit game of the season and knocked in a run, while Conor Gillaspie collected the other RBI.

Kansas City starter Wade Davis had a solid outing, scattering eight hits that produced two runs and struck out six in seven innings.

Jose Quintana yielded two runs on five hits while fanning four over 5 1/3 frames for Chicago. It's his fifth straight no-decision and his 10th of the year for the White Sox, who won for just the third time in their last 10 games.

The Royals' first run came in the second after Miguel Tejada singled to right and Mike Moustakas delivered a two-out, RBI double.

The White Sox answered in the fourth. It started with an Adam Dunn walk and a Paul Konerko single up the middle. Gillaspie's ground ball to center scored Dunn from second to tie the game. After a double play left Gillaspie on second, Keppinger dropped a single over second baseman Tejada's head to give Chicago the lead.

Alcides Escobar connected on a line drive double down the third-base line to begin the sixth inning. A groundout moved Escobar to third and Salvador Perez hit an RBI single to left to even the score at 2-2.
