Sunday, June 1st (All times Eastern)

Chicago Cubs (20-33) at Milwaukee Brewers (33-23), 2:10 p.m.

Probable Starting Pitchers: Chicago - Jeff Samardzija (1-4, 1.68) Milwaukee - Kyle Lohse (6-1, 2.92)

(SportsNetwork.com) - Kyle Lohse tries to win his seventh straight decision when the Milwaukee Brewers play the rubber match of a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs on Sunday afternoon.

Lohse left Monday's game against Baltimore with a 6-4 lead after pitching 6 2/3 innings, but didn't get a decision after giving up nine hits and four runs. The righty's only loss came April 1 in his first start of the year against Atlanta.

Lohse is 6-6 with a 5.08 ERA in 21 career starts against the Cubs. That includes a 4-3 victory May 16 this year at Wrigley Field when he was matched up against Jeff Samardzija, today's starter for the Cubs.

Samardzija finally secured his first win of the season in his last start as the right-hander piled up 10 strikeouts over seven innings in an 8-4 win at San Francisco on Monday.

Samardzija is 2-5 with a 3.58 ERA in 21 games (7 starts) against the Brewers. He's never beaten the Brewers in a starting role.

On Saturday, Anthony Rizzo hit a pair of two-run homers to help power the Cubs to an 8-0 win. Chris Coghlan, John Baker, Darwin Barney and Emilio Bonifacio each drove in a run for Chicago, which snapped its three-game skid.

Jason Hammel (6-3) fired seven scoreless innings of four-hit ball with eight strikeouts to move to 5-0 in six all-time starts against Milwaukee.

"We got a nice start by Hammel. He set the tone and gave us seven really, really good innings," said Cubs manager Rick Renteria.

Wily Peralta (4-5), who is 0-4 over his last five starts, was tagged for six runs on five hits and two walks in 5 2/3 innings of work.

Scooter Gennett collected two of the four hits for the Brewers, who had a three-game win streak snapped.

"We're going to have good games most of the time and sometimes we're going to have games with a really tough pitcher," said Brewers manager Ron Roenicke.

The teams have split eight meetings this season.
