Description: Former A's lefthander Dallas Braden is retiring from baseball. SOURCE: Susan Slusser, San Francisco Chronicle
Insight: Braden captivated the baseball world with his perfect game against the Rays in 2010. Since then, he's only logged eight victories and hasn't even pitched at the big league level since 2011. He'll retire with a 4.16 ERA in 94 Major League appearances.

8/14/2012 6:35:00 PM
Description: Athletics starter Dallas Braden will have another operation on his left shoulder, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Insight: Braden was working his way back after having surgery to repair a torn capsule in his shoulder in May 2011. He won't return this season.

7/17/2012 7:58:00 PM
Description: Athletics starter Dallas Braden threw all his pitches in a 40-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Insight: Slusser said Braden "bounced off the mound" due to his excitement at how well his rehab is progressing. Like his teammate and fellow lefty Brett Anderson, he should be able to return in August.

5/22/2012 9:55:00 PM
Description: Dallas Braden has been taken off of his throwing program. Braden is still recovering from shoulder surgery.
Insight: It doesn't look like we'll see Braden (1-1, 3.00 ERA in three starts last year before his season-ending shoulder injury) again until at least July or August.

3/31/2012 7:27:00 PM
Description: Dallas Braden suffered a setback in his recovery from surgery to repair a torn capsule in his throwing shoulder, according to John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Insight: His perfect game aside, Braden has always been just an average fantasy option. He'll give you a solid ERA, but he doesn't strike out many batters. He'll likely return after May after his recent setback, so you can dump him.

Description: A's SP Dallas Braden will have surgery to repair a torn capsule in his left shoulder; his recovery period will be announced after the surgery. SOURCE: ESPN.com
Insight: This injury is significant and Braden, most likely, will miss most, if not all, of this season. Unless you have a DL spot available you can cut him for a player that will help you this year.

5/3/2011 7:58:00 PM
Description: Athletics SP Dallas Braden is scheduled have his troublesome shoulder examined again by renowned orthopedist Dr. Lewis Yocum on Wednesday in Los Angeles. Braden played catch Monday for the first time since being placed on the 15-day DL on April 18 but the session didn't go as well as Braden or the A's had hoped, according to manager Bob Geren. SOURCE: Yahoo Sports
Insight: Braden did not initially have structural damage so the fact that he needs to go back to the doctor is not a good sign. Keep him stashed on your DL until more news about the injury is known.

4/21/2011 7:56:00 AM
Description: Dallas Braden received good news back from Dr. Yocum that their is no structural damage in his shoulder and its just inflamed.
Insight: This is great news for Braden owners and A's fans who originally thought Braden might have to shut it down for the year. They should get Braden and Andrew Bailey back in a few weeks.

Description: The A's placed SP Dallas Braden on the 15-day disabled list with a stiff left shoulder. SOURCE: Rotoworld
Insight: It is never a good sign when a pitcher experiences a new type of pain; don't be surprised if this injury is worse than is currently being reported.

4/12/2011 8:59:00 AM
Description: A's SP Dallas Braden received a no decision after pitching 6 innings of 1-run ball against the White Sox. Braden allowed 5 hits and walked 2, while racking up 7 K's.
Insight: Braden is a must-start in AL-only formats and is a useful pitcher in head-to-head mixed leagues when he is a two-start pitcher.

3/15/2011 5:59:00 AM
Description: Dallas Braden allowed six runs (four earned) in four innings yesterday. His spring training ERA is over 10.00.
Insight: Braden wasn't as effective as usual in the second half of last season, possibly being burnt out from his no-hitter. He doesn't offer a lot of upside but he is usually good enough in his home starts to be a spot starter in mixed leagues.

9/29/2010 8:02:00 AM
Description: Braden allowed four runs, three earned, on ten hits over seven innings on Tuesday against the Angels. He walked none and struck out three.

9/24/2010 3:42:00 AM
Description: Dallas Braden held Texas to one run over eight innings in a shutout win last night.
Insight: With a 3.49 ERA and 10 wins, Braden is a mixed league option for 2011. That being said, he had lost four starts in a row going into this one so he isn't a great play next week.

9/19/2010 3:01:00 PM
Description: Braden allowed four runs on eight hits over six innings on Saturday against the Twins. He walked four and struck out two.

Insight: Braden was pitching well, trailing only 1-0 at the time. Consider him day-to-day and, as long as his symptoms resolve quickly, he should make his next start.
