4/4/2014 11:06:00 AM
Description: Nationals second baseman Anthony Rendon is back in the lineup after a day off.
Insight: Rendon is 4-for-10 with a home run and five RBI in the first two games and appears to be solidly entrenched as a fantasy-worthy second baseman. He'll bat second against Braves starter David Hale.

4/3/2014 10:23:00 AM
Description: Nationals second baseman Anthony Rendon is not in Thursday afternoon's lineup. No injury, just a rest day which will allow backup Danny Espinosa to get in a few swings.
Insight: Rendon is 4-for-10 with a home run and five RBI in the first two games and appears to be solidly entrenched as a fantasy-worthy second baseman.

3/31/2014 9:09:00 PM
Description: Nationals second baseman Anthony Rendon went 2-for-5 with four RBI Monday at New York.
Insight: Rendon blasted a 10th-inning three-run homer off John Lannan to add to stretch Washington's lead to 9-5. The 23-year-old came into 2013 as the Nats' top prospect and hit .265 with seven homers, 35 RBI, 40 runs and a .725 OPS in 98 games.

3/31/2014 12:01:00 PM
Description: Nats second baseman Anthony Rendon is hitting just .071 (1-for-14) in his career against Mets right-hander Dillon Gee.
Insight: Rendon (.265, 7 HR, 35 RBI in 2013) played well as a rookie, just not against Gee. The Nationals have him batting eighth, though he spent most of last season hitting out of the No. 2 spot in the order.

2/16/2014 7:20:00 PM
Description: According to Mark Zuckman of natsinsider.com, Nationals manager Matt Williams said there will be an "open competition" between Anthony Rendon and Danny Espinosa for the second base job.
Insight: Rendon batted .265 with seven homers and a .725 OPS in 98 games as a rookie last season, while Espinosa played through injuries and lost his job after batting .158 with a .465 OPS in 44 games. Espinosa compiled 38 homers and 37 steals over the 2011 and 2012 seasons, but Rendon was the team's No. 1 prospect heading into 2013 and has a better shot at winning the job.

8/30/2013 11:00:00 AM
Description: Nationals 2B Anthony Rendon is hitless in 11 at-bats versus Mets starter Dillon Gee.
Insight: Rendon struggled in July (.187), but has found his second wind and batted .263 in August, but this matchup should be avoided.

Cold7/23/2013 9:57:00 PM

Insight: His average has dropped from .301 to .273 in that short time. Rendon has been in a slump for a month, hitting .179 over his last 22 games.

7/13/2013 3:35:00 PM

7/7/2013 7:02:00 PM
Description: Nationals 2B Anthony Rendon drove in three runs Sunday against the Padres.
Insight: Rendon went 2-for-5 with a homer in the game. The rookie has lived up to his billing as the team's top prospect, hitting .303 with three round-trippers and a .797 OPS in 154 plate appearances. Danny Espinosa isn't getting his job back anytime soon.

7/3/2013 9:31:00 PM

Hot6/15/2013 10:34:00 PM

Insight: It was his first career jack. Rendon, Washington's top prospect, has been starting at second base since being recalled and is batting .333 with six RBI and seven runs.

6/5/2013 5:48:00 PM
Description: Nationals infielder Anthony Rendon is starting at second base Wednesday against the Mets.
Insight: Rendon split time with Steve Lombardozzi at third base when Ryan Zimmerman was on the DL earlier this season and failed to make a splash, but he is expected to serve as the everyday second baseman with Danny Espinosa on the DL, according to Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com. Rendon, who will turn 23 Thursday, hit .319 with six homers and a 1.064 OPS in 33 games with Double-A Harrisburg this season.

6/4/2013 4:35:00 PM
Description: The Nationals have recalled prospect Anthony Rendon from Triple-A Syracuse.
Insight: Rendon split time with Steve Lombardozzi and failed to make a splash when Ryan Zimmerman was on the DL, and he might find himself in the same timeshare at second base with Danny Espinosa out. Rendon, who will turn 23 in two days, hit .319 with six homers and a 1.064 OPS in 33 games with Double-A Harrisburg this season and was just called up to Triple-A last week.

5/21/2013 1:32:00 PM
Description: Nationals 3B prospect Anthony Rendon played second base at Double-A Harrisburg on Monday night and could get some additional time at the position.
Insight: Playing second base ahead of Danny Espinosa would be an easier road to the majors than trying to beat out Ryan Zimmerman, but more than likely Rendon is just getting work so he can be a utility infielder. Rendon is the 28th overall prospect on MLB.com's top 100 list and the 22-year-old is batting .346 at Harrisburg.

3/14/2013 2:47:00 PM
Description: The Nationals have optioned Anthony Rendon to Double-A Harrisburg, according to Mark Zuckerman of CSNWashington.com. He batted .375 with four homers this spring.
Insight: Rendon is the 28th overall prospect on MLB.com's top 100 list after hitting .233 with six homers and an .851 OPS in 43 minor league games last season, but his path to the big leagues in blocked by Ryan Zimmerman. The Nationals will let the 22-year-old get more seasoning in the minors this season.
