American League Game Summary - Toronto at New York

(Sunday, July 27)

Final Score: Toronto 5, New York 4

Bronx, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Dioner Navarro hit a go-ahead RBI single in the top of the ninth inning Sunday and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the New York Yankees 5-4, winning back-to-back games in the Bronx for the first time in almost four years.

The Blue Jays snapped a 17-game road losing streak against the Yankees with a 6-4 victory on Saturday and fought off three comeback attempts in this one to win the three-game series.

They won consecutive road games against the Yankees for the first time since Aug. 2-3, 2010, and captured a series in the Bronx for the first time since Aug. 27-29, 2012.

Jose Bautista stole second base with two outs in the ninth and scored on Navarro's single to right-center on a 1-2 fastball from David Robertson (1-3).

Juan Francisco had a solo homer for the Blue Jays, who are 7-3 since the All- Star break.

"We have to do the little things to win," said Navarro. "We battled, battled, battled and came through at the end."

Chase Headley and Francisco Cervelli hit back-to-back homers in the fifth inning to tie the score for the first time for New York.

The Yankees tied it two more times over the next three innings but never took the lead.

"A frustrating loss against a (division) team we're fighting against," said Yankees manager Joe Girardi.

The Blue Jays took a 4-3 lead in the top of the eighth inning when Colby Rasmus drew a leadoff walk, went to third base on Dellin Betances' errant pickoff attempt and scored on Munenori Kawasaki's sacrifice fly.

The Yankees tied the score in the bottom of the eighth on Carlos Beltran's RBI single.

Both starting pitchers went 5 1/3 innings. J.A. Happ gave up three runs on four hits and two walks for Toronto, and rookie Shane Greene also let in three runs on eight hits and two walks.

Jose Reyes led off the game with a single, went to third on Melky Cabrera's double and scored on Bautista's ground out.

Zelous Wheeler had New York's only hit through four innings, a leadoff single in the third, and he threw Dan Johnson out at home plate from right field to end the top of the fourth.

Francisco teed off on a curveball in the fifth inning for a leadoff blast into the second deck behind right field, his 16th homer of the season.

But Headley hit his first homer as a Yankee, and eighth of the season, into the left-field seats and Cervelli homered for the first time since April 25, 2013, two pitches later to tie the score for New York in the bottom of the fifth.

Colby Rasmus' RBI double in the top of the sixth inning gave the Blue Jays the lead again and chased Greene from the game. Happ came out after giving up a single to Derek Jeter and a walk to Jacoby Ellsbury with one out in the sixth. Brian McCann hit an RBI single off Brett Cecil later in the inning to tie the score again.

The Blue Jays had the bases loaded with one out in the top of the seventh but couldn't score against Betances.

Game Notes

Wheeler was doubled up in the third inning after Jays second baseman Kawasaki raced into shallow right field to make a sliding catch on Brendan Ryan's pop up and then threw to first base from his knees ... The Blue Jays remain on the road for seven more games. They start a three-game series in Boston on Monday after taking three of four against the Red Sox at home before the Yankees series ... The Yankees start a six-game road trip on Monday against Texas.
