Insight: Where's Ian Kinsler when you need him? With Profar out of the picture, the Rangers will probably turn to Adam Rosales (.190, 5 HR, 12 RBI) at second base. Free agent infielder Stephen Drew could also be an option for Texas.

Description: It only took one day for optimism to fall by the wayside as Rangers second baseman Jurickson Profar (shoulder) was cleared to start a throwing on Monday and shut down on Tuesday, according to mlblogs.com.
Insight: The 20-year-old was considered the top prospect in baseball last season but hit just .234 with a .644 OPS in 85 games. This isn't the way to bounce back from last season.

Insight: Profar has been slowed by tendinitis in his right shoulder and will be on the program for 2-3 weeks. However, he'll still be able to DH in spring training games in the meantime. The 20-year-old was considered the top prospect in baseball last season but hit just .234 with a .644 OPS in 85 games. Hopefully he'll find his way now that he has a guaranteed starting job following the trade of Ian Kinsler for Prince Fielder.

2/12/2014 5:11:00 PM
Description: Rangers second baseman Jurickson Profar will be limited early in spring training with tendinitis in his shoulder, according to Richard Durrett of espndallas.com.
Insight: Profar can do everything but throw, so he'll still be able to work on his hitting which is the only thing fantasy owners care about. The 20-year-old was considered the top prospect in baseball last season but hit just .234 with a .644 OPS in 85 games. Hopefully he'll find his way now that he has a guaranteed starting job following the trade of Ian Kinsler for Prince Fielder.

8/28/2013 2:50:00 PM
Description: Texas infielder Jurickson Profar will start at third base with Adrian Beltre at DH on Wednesday afternoon.
Insight: It will be Profar's 10th start at third base making him eligible in some fantasy leagues. he's now started double-digit games at 2B, 3B and SS. The highly-touted Profar as struggled with the bat this season, hitting .233 with a .635 OPS. We expect more from him in the future.

7/6/2013 7:16:00 PM
Description: Jurickson Profar will start in left field Saturday versus Houston.
Insight: It's the first time Profar has played the outfield in 42 big league appearances. Profar (.259, 3 HR, 9 RBI) hasn't played much since Ian Kinsler's return from the DL. If he can master the outfield, Profar might be able to be in the lineup almost everyday.

6/26/2013 8:01:00 PM
Description: Rangers manager Ron Washington said Jurickson Profar is still not ready to play the outfield, according to ESPNDallas.com.
Insight: With Elvis Andrus signed long-term at shortstop and second baseman Ian Kinsler coming off the DL on June 15, Profar doesn't have anywhere to play unless he learns corner outfield. The rookie, who came into this season as baseball's top prospect, is hitting .263 with two homers and seven RBI in 28 games. Washington said he'll start Profar Thursday for the first time since June 20.

Insight: It's a fantasy double-whammy. Not only does Profar (.277, 2 HR, 7 RBI) get to stay in the big leagues, but soon he'll be fantasy-eligible at a new position. Jackpot!

6/13/2013 9:28:00 AM
Description: Texas infielder Jurickson Profar went 3-for-5 with a double and one RBI Wednesday night against the Indians.
Insight: Profar has gone 5-for-9 over his last three appearances to raise his average from .254 to .292. The Rangers are debating whether or not to keep their top prospect in the big leagues as a utilityman when Ian Kinsler returns from the DL next week.

6/12/2013 6:22:00 PM
Description: Texas infielder Jurickson Profar has a chance to stay on the roster even after second baseman Ian Kinsler is activated from the disabled list. SOURCE: T.R. Sullivan, MLB.com
Insight: There are really two schools of thought on this. Keeping Profar (.269, 2 HR, 6 RBI) around as a utility man could benefit the Rangers and it would give Profar some valuable big league experience. On the other hand, Profar would be sitting on the bench a lot where in Triple-A he would be playing everyday. Kinsler should return from his intercostal injury sometime next week.

Cold6/9/2013 5:56:00 PM
Description: Rangers infielder Jurickson Profar went 0-for-5 Sunday.
Insight: The 20-year-old Profar has hit a bit of a slump, going 4-for-26 (.154) over his last six games. His average has dropped from .324 to .254 in that span. The talented youngster hasn't made a big impact so far but has tremendous upside.

5/20/2013 8:33:00 PM
Description: Texas manager Ron Washington told ESPN Dallas that Jurickson Profar will split playing time at second base with Leury Garcia while Ian Kinsler is out.
Insight: The 20-year-old Profar went 3-for-17 in a short stint with Texas at the end of last season. It's no secret that Profar is the team's best long-term option at second base so if he's playing well, we'd expect Washington to give him the most reps.
