Description: Nationals second baseman Danny Espinosa had two hits in the first game of a doubleheader on Thursday against the Mets.
Insight: Espinosa was 2-for-4 with a run in a loss to the Mets. He scored in the fifth inning, in which the Nationals tied the game at four, but New York scored the final three runs of the game to win, 7-4. Espinosa is hitting .222 with eight home runs and 27 RBI in 324 at-bats this year.

Hot6/8/2014 7:38:00 PM
Description: Nationals second baseman Danny Espinosa delivered three hits in Sunday's win against San Diego.
Insight: Espinosa was right at the Mendoza Line when his six-game hitting streak began. Now he's up to .232 with six homers and 17 runs batted in. Even with his recent hot streak, Espinosa isn't a fantasy option outside of NL-only leagues.

Cold5/14/2014 11:06:00 AM
Description: Washington infielder Danny Espinosa has struck out 21 times in 43 at-bats this month.
Insight: He's gone 8-for-60 (.133) with 26 strikeouts in his last 17 games, though four of his hits left the yard. He's hitting .228 with six homers and four steals this season, so he still has some fantasy value.

5/13/2014 11:06:00 AM
Description: Washington infielder Danny Espinosa is a career .545 hitter with one homer against Arizona starter Bronson Arroyo.
Insight: Espinosa has been getting plenty of regular playing time with 3B Ryan Zimmerman out of the lineup and while he's not hitting for a high average he has hit two homers this week and four over the past 11 games. He's worth a flier on Tuesday.

5/2/2014 10:04:00 AM
Description: Washington infielder Danny Espinosa is a career .368 hitter with three homers against Phillies ace Cliff Lee.
Insight: Espinosa has been getting plenty of playing time with 3B Ryan Zimmerman out of the lineup. He's batting .300 with three homers over the past two weeks. He could be worth a flier on Friday.

4/20/2014 4:59:00 PM
Description: Danny Espinosa paced Washington with three hits Sunday in a win against the Cardinals.
Insight: It's Espinosa's first three-hit game since September 24, 2012. He's hitting .313 with a .521 slugging percentage in 17 appearances this season.

4/13/2014 4:01:00 PM
Description: It looks like Danny Espinosa is going to be Washington's everyday second baseman for the next 4-6 weeks while Ryan Zimmerman (thumb) is on the DL.
Insight: Zimmerman broke his thumb Saturday. Espinosa averaged 19 homers and 18 steals per season in 2011-12 but played through an injury and hit just .158 in 44 games last year. He came into Sunady with a .316 average in 19 at-bats this season and could help out NL-only owners looking for middle-infield help.

2/17/2014 10:37:00 AM
Description: Unless something big happens before the start of the season it appears that Danny Espinosa will be the utility guy for the Nationals backing up Anthony Rendon at 2B, Ian Desmond at SS and Ryan Zimmerman at 3B.
Insight: Espinosa produced 38 HR over a two-year span from 2011-12, but managed to hit just .158 with three homers in 44 games last season and lose the starting job. According to a Natsinsider.com report manager Matt Williams said it would be an open competition at second, but we don't expect Espinosa to win it.

Description: It appears the Nationals are looking to deal second baseman Danny Espinosa. SOURCE: Nationals.com
Insight: Espinosa's production has tumbled this season and rumor has it the Nationals aren't even considering him for a September call-up. At age 26, there's still time for Espinosa to turn things around but he better do it quickly.

7/30/2013 10:49:00 AM
Description: Washington second baseman Danny Espinosa is a career .188 hitter (3-for-16) with seven strikeouts against Detroit starter Anibal Sanchez.
Insight: Espinosa has played most of the season through a fractured wrist and is hitting just .158 with a .465 OPS. He brought power to the table with 38 HR over the past two season, but has just three to date.

6/19/2013 12:16:00 PM
Description: Washington second baseman Danny Espinosa (wrist) has been activated from the DL and optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.
Insight: Espinosa has played most of the season through a fractured wrist and is hitting just .158 with a .465 OPS. He struck out 10 times in 17 at-bats during his rehab assignment. The team's top prospect Anthony Rendon has played well as the starting second baseman, so there's no guarantee Espinosa will reclaim his starting job even if he performs well at Triple-A.

6/12/2013 7:21:00 PM
Description: Washington second baseman Danny Espinosa (wrist) will start his minor league rehab assignment Thursday.
Insight: Espinosa has played most of the season through a fractured wrist and is hitting just .158 with a .465 OPS. The team has been starting youngster Anthony Rendon at second base, so Espinosa might be optioned to Triple-A when he comes off the DL.

6/4/2013 4:32:00 PM
Description: Washington second baseman Danny Espinosa (wrist) finally has been placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Insight: Espinosa has admirably tried to play through a fractured right wrist, but it was time for him to go on the DL. He's hitting .158 with three homers and a .465 OPS in 44 games this season.

6/4/2013 10:04:00 AM
Description: Washington second baseman Danny Espinosa (wrist) has a favorable matchup with Mets starter Jeremy Hefner. He's 5-for-10 with a pair of home runs and a 1.800 OPS.
Insight: Espinosa is trying to play through a wrist injury that really requires a couple of weeks off and his production has suffered because of it. He has just four hits in his last 51at-bats and even this favorable matchup won't be enough to overcome the reality of the wrist injury.

Cold5/29/2013 1:35:00 PM
Description: Washington second baseman Danny Espinosa (wrist) is probable for Wednesday's game against Baltimore after taking batting practice on Monday and a full workout session on Tuesday.
Insight: Espinosa (.163, 3 HR, 12 RBI) has just one hit in his last 17 at-bats and has a 40/4 K/BB this season. He has been dealing with a fracture in his wrist since getting hit by a pitch in mid-April and also has a torn rotator cuff.

5/8/2013 11:05:00 AM
