National League Preview from The Sports Network

Saturday, July 19 (All times Eastern)

Los Angeles Dodgers (54-44) at St. Louis Cardinals (53-44), 4:05 p.m.

Probable Starting Pitchers: Los Angeles - Zack Greinke (11-5, 2.73) St. Louis - Joe Kelly (1-1, 3.44)

(SportsNetwork.com) - Zack Greinke aims to continue his regular season domination of the Cardinals with the Los Angeles Dodgers resume their three- game set in St. Louis this afternoon.

Greinke, who struck out two in a scoreless fourth inning in Tuesday's All-Star Game at Minnesota, is coming off a loss July 9 at Detroit when he allowed seven hits and three runs in seven innings. He had eight strikeouts and didn't walk a batter before departing after throwing 115 pitches, his second-most this season.

Greinke will face the Cardinals for the second time in his last four starts. On June 28 at Dodger Stadium, the right-hander allowed one run on four hits while striking out 10 over seven solid innings in a 9-1 LA win. He's 9-3 with a 2.93 ERA in 13 games (11 starts) versus the Cardinals and has won his last four starts against St. Louis dating to April 7, 2012.

His ERA is 1.37 in that time, having given up four earned runs in 26 1/3 innings. Greinke's last defeat against the Cardinals came Sept. 7, 2011 at Busch Stadium when he pitched for Milwaukee.

The last time Greinke pitched at Busch Stadium was in the NL Championship Series last year. He started Game 1 against today's starter for St. Louis, Joe Kelly. Neither pitcher received a decision in a game the Cardinals won in 13 innings. The pitchers faced each other twice in the NLCS, Games 1 and 5.

Kelly makes his second start since coming off the disabled list. The 26-year- old righty was sidelined with a left hamstring strain for nearly three months. He returned July 11 at Milwaukee, but lasted only three innings and gave up seven hits and six runs. Kelly made his return at the venue where he strained his left hamstring while attempting to beat out a bunt on April 16. Milwaukee welcomed him back by scoring three runs in each of the first two innings, but the Cardinals rallied for a 7-6 win thanks to Matt Holliday's solo homer in the ninth inning.

Kelly is 1-1 with a 3.72 ERA in four games (three starts) versus the Dodgers.

Last night, Holliday smacked a two-run homer among his two hits and three RBI as the Cardinals edged the Dodgers, 3-2. Kolten Wong went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored, while Lance Lynn (11-6) struck out nine and surrendered two runs on four hits and four walks over six-plus innings for the Cardinals, who have won six of their last eight games.

"He's got a lot of wins and there's a reason, because he's got great stuff and he knows how to win," Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said of Lynn.

Trevor Rosenthal fired a 1-2-3 ninth to notch his 29th save of the season.

Dan Haren (8-7) allowed three runs on eight hits and two walks over 4 2/3 frames for Los Angeles, which had won three of its last four contests heading into the All-Star break.

The Dodgers took three of four at home versus the Cardinals from June 26-29.
