National League Preview from The Sports Network

Monday, August 19th (All times Eastern)

Los Angeles Dodgers (72-51) at Miami Marlins (47-75), 7:10 p.m.

Probable Starting Pitchers: Los Angeles - Hyun-Jin Ryu (12-3, 2.91) Miami - Jose Fernandez (8-5, 2.45)

(Sports Network) - Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez will try to put a rough game behind him when his club opens a four-game series against the Miami Marlins Monday night.

Ramirez had two costly errors in the ninth inning of Sunday's 3-2 loss against the Philadelphia Phillies and his fielding blunder allowed the game-winning run to score, halting L.A.'s season-high 10-game winning streak. Ramirez went 0-for-4 at the plate.

"I made a couple mistakes and it cost us the game," Ramirez told the Dodgers' website. "Games like this are going to happen. I'll make those plays tomorrow. It's a tough loss today, definitely tough, but sometimes you don't want to get that in your head. We've got a long way to go. I'm going to make errors. The ball came up and bounced out of my glove at the last second."

Yasiel Puig also went 0-for-4 and Andre Ethier homered for the Dodgers, who are still a sizzling 25-4 since the All-Star break and 42-9 since June 22. The Dodgers own a 7 1/2-game lead over Arizona in the NL West and are 13-0-4 in the last 17 series.

Brandon League suffered the loss at Philadelphia and starter Ricky Nolasco held the Phillies to a pair of runs in the first six innings.

Taking the mound Monday for L.A. will be Hyun-Jin Ryu, who is tied with Clayton Kershaw for the team lead in wins with 12. Ryu has won five straight starts and his past six decisions. The Dodgers have prevailed in each of Ryu's previous nine outings, including last Tuesday's 4-2 win over the New York Mets. Ryu hurled seven innings of one-run ball to improve to 12-3 in 23 starts with a 2.91 earned run average.

The rookie left-hander is 6-2 in 12 road assignments and defeated the Marlins back on May 11 at Dodger Stadium, where he allowed a run in 6 2/3 innings of a 7-1 victory.

Miami opened a 10-game homestand by losing a series to the San Francisco Giants. The Marlins salvaged the three-game set with Sunday's 6-5 win thanks to an RBI double by Jeff Mathis in the bottom of the eighth inning.

"We've been struggling to score runs all year and we score runs the last two days and we can't come out on top," Mathis said. "Today it was back and forth again and it was just nice to get that one."

Mathis also homered and Ed Lucas, Adeiny Hechavarria and Donovan Solano each drove in a run for the Marlins, who have won three of five games. Chad Qualls tossed 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief and Steve Cishek followed suit in the ninth to earn his 27th save.

Tom Koehler got the start and allowed three runs in five innings.

Jose Fernandez draws the start for the Marlins Monday and the rookie right- hander is 8-5 in 23 starts with a 2.45 ERA. He is 3-0 in his past six trips to the mound and did not record a decision in last Tuesday's 1-0 win at Kansas City, as he hurled seven shutout innings and struck out six.

Fernandez is 5-0 in 11 starts at Marlins Park and defeated the Dodgers on May 10 with six innings of three-run ball in a 5-4 win. The Dodgers took two of three in that set from May 10-12.
