Description: Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez wasn't in the starting lineup Thursday against San Diego. SOURCE: Denver Post
Insight: Gonzalez has never done well against Padres right-hander Ian Kennedy (.138 AVG in 29 at bats). Corey Dickerson (.125, 0 HR, 0 RBI) got the start in left field.

4/17/2014 10:08:00 AM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez is a career .138 hitter (4-for-29) versus Padres starter Ian Kennedy with 13 strikeouts.
Insight: Historically, Gonzalez's worst month is April (.843 OPS), but he's off to a better start this year, batting .283 with four homers and a .915 OPS. This matchup should probably be avoided.

4/12/2014 10:14:00 AM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez is a career .098 hitter (4-for-41) versus San Francisco Giants right-hander Matt Cain.
Insight: Gonzalez is off to a quick start, batting .375 with four homers, 13 RBI and a league-leading .800 slugging percentage. Saturday, however, is a poor matchup.

Hot4/11/2014 10:25:00 AM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez is a career .367 hitter with four homers and a 1.308 OPS versus Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner.
Insight: Those numbers fly in the face of Gonzalez's career statistics which show he's just a .281 hitter with a .798 OPS versus left-handers. Cargo is batting .389 this season with three homers and 11 RBI. Its ok to start him in this lefty vs. left matchup.

4/8/2014 5:56:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez will get a night off Tuesday against the White Sox.
Insight: Gonzalez has hit safely in all eight games this season and is batting .355 with three homers, nine RBI, eight runs and two steals. Injuries are the only thing that can prevent him from being a top-10 overall fantasy option.

4/7/2014 10:23:00 AM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez is hitless in seven at-bats versus White Sox starter Felipe Paulino.
Insight: Gonzalez is a career .309 hitter versus all right-handers, so this matchup goes against his normal production numbers. "Cargo" has started off well, batting .346 and leading the NL in runs scored (7), but perhaps you should look elsewhere for Monday.

4/2/2014 10:04:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez left Wednesday's game due to dizziness, according to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post.
Insight: Gonzalez went 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. He has picked up one RBI and scored one run in all three games this season. The Rockies have a quick turnaround and play at 12:40 p.m. ET Thursday so CarGo probably won't play.

2/13/2014 4:03:00 PM
Description: Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez is way ahead of schedule in his recovery from appendectomy and hernia surgery, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post.
Insight: The team is considering starting CarGo in center field after trading Dexter Fowler, but may keep him in left to keep his legs fresh. The outfielder should be ready for Opening Day and should be a late first-round pick in most fantasy leagues.

1/23/2014 4:43:00 PM
Description: Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez had surgery for an emergency appendectomy two weeks ago, but has already been cleared for physical activity, according to the Rockies.
Insight: Gonzalez should still be ready for spring training next month. Assuming, he's back to normal by the start of 2014, Gonzalez (.302, 26 HR, 70 RBI, 21 SB in 110 games) should be a top-10 fantasy player.

Insight: Gonzalez should still be ready for spring training next month. Assuming, he's back to normal by the start of 2014, Gonzalez (.302, 26 HR, 70 RBI, 21 SB) should be a top-10 fantasy player.

10/7/2013 8:56:00 PM
Description: Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez is opting not to have surgery on his sprained middle finger. SOURCE: Denver Post
Insight: Gonzalez struggled with the injury for most of the second half. He made the decision to not have surgery after his finger showed improvement during an instructional league game last week. If he's back to normal by the start of 2014, Gonzalez (.302, 26 HR, 70 RBI, 21 SB) should be a top-ten fantasy player.

9/24/2013 8:18:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez (finger) will take soft toss and then advance to batting practice this week, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post.
Insight: Gonzalez is making one last effort to avoid surgery on his sprained right middle finger. If he does have surgery, he'll need two months minimum to recover.

9/16/2013 6:31:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez is leaning toward having surgery on his sprained finger. SOURCE: Troy Renck, Denver Post
Insight: The injury has been bothering him for almost two months. With Colorado out of the playoff picture, Gonzalez has no reason to play anymore. His season is probably over.

9/15/2013 10:45:00 AM
Description: Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez probably won't see any at bats the rest of the season. SOURCE: Denver Post
Insight: He could see time as a defensive replacement late in games but obviously he has no fantasy value in that role. CarGo (.302, 26 HR, 70 RBI, 21 SB) had been having an MVP season before a sprained middle finger stalled his production in late July.

9/8/2013 10:31:00 AM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez's right middle finger remains sore and swollen, according to the Denver Post.
Insight: Gonzalez has no timetable as to when he will be able to swing a bat again. He might not hit again the rest of this season.

9/4/2013 12:46:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez returned to action as a defensive replacement Tuesday against the Dodgers. If he starts tonight, he could be in for a monster fantasy day.
Insight: That's because Padres castaway Edinson Volquez is pitching for Los Angeles. In 19 career at bats against him, Gonzalez (302, 26 HR, 70 RBI, 21 SB) has ten hits including three doubles and two triples. CarGo should have a field day with this matchup.

9/3/2013 5:49:00 PM
Description: The Rockies have activated Carlos Gonzalez from the 15-day disabled list.
Insight: Gonzalez will serve as a defensive replacement and pinch-runner until his finger improves. He's dealing with too much stiffness in his sprained middle finger to hit.

9/2/2013 10:06:00 PM
Description: According to Troy Renck of the Denver Post, Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez' finger is not any worse than before but was too stiff to play in his rehab game Monday. CarGo, who has been on the disabled list since Aug. 5 due to a sprained right middle finger, was supposed to return to the Rockies lineup Tuesday but that won't happen now.
Insight: Gonzalez doesn't need an MRI and surgery is not an option because he does not have a fracture. Only rest will help the finger heal. However, Gonzalez must also change how he grips the bat in the future, something he is working on now.

9/2/2013 8:00:00 PM
Description: According to Troy Renck of the Denver Post, Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez (finger) was scratched from Monday's rehab game and won't come off the DL Tuesday.
Insight: CarGo, who has been on the disabled list since Aug. 5 due to a sprained right middle finger, was supposed to return to the Rockies lineup Tuesday, but his sprained middle finger is still bothering him.

8/30/2013 6:01:00 PM
Description: According to the Denver Post, Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez (finger) will start a minor league rehab assignment Saturday with Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Insight: CarGo, who has been on the disabled list since Aug. 5 due to a sprained right middle finger, will play there Saturday through Monday before rejoining the Rockies Tuesday.
