Interleague Preview from The Sports Network

Saturday, August 31st (All times Eastern)

LA Angels of Anaheim (61-72) at Milwaukee Brewers (59-75), 7:10 p.m.

Probable Starting Pitchers: LA Angels - Jerome Williams (5-10, 4.69) Milwaukee - Marco Estrada (6-4, 4.44)

(Sports Network) - Marco Estrada tries to follow up a brilliant effort in his last start when the Milwaukee Brewers continue their three-game set with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at Miller Park.

Estrada was terrific on Sunday in Cincinnati, as he limited the Reds to just one hit over seven scoreless innings to improve to 6-4, while lowering his ERA to 4.44.

He also struck out nine - including six in a row at one point - in the win.

"You just try to make pitches and get out of it as fast as you can, get through innings quick," Estrada said. "If you get a strikeout, great, but you're not looking for them."

In four starts since spending two months on the disabled list with a left hamstring injury, Estrada is 2-0 with a 1.88 ERA.

Estrada will now be tasked with slowing down a red-hot Los Angeles team that continued to roll in Friday's opener behind six scoreless innings from Jered Weaver in a 5-0 triumph.

Weaver (9-7) was pulled for a pinch-hitter in the top of the seventh after throwing 104 pitches, yielding just three hits and three walks before giving way to the bullpen.

"Obviously we had a big seventh inning. I had to battle today, defense played well behind me and Hank (Conger) called a good game. It was a good combination," Weaver said.

Kole Calhoun went 2-for-3 with his fifth home run of the season while Grant Green drove in three for Los Angeles, which improved to 6-1 on its current nine-game road trip.

Wily Peralta (8-14) went six-plus innings, allowing three runs and four hits while whiffing six. Milwaukee has lost two of three.

"You want to try and keep the game in line, especially when you don't get much run support. One run can end up being the difference," said Peralta.

Getting the call for Los Angeles on Saturday will be righty Jerome Williams, who hasn't earned a victory since June 12 and he has an 5.38 ERA in 19 starts. Williams, though, pitched three scoreless innings in relief on Wednesday.

He is 5-10 overall on the year with a 4.69 ERA, but hasn't won in 12 starts.

Williams is 2-2 in four starts versus the Brewers with a 5.63 ERA.

The Angels won five of their first nine games with the Brewers after Milwaukee moved to the National League. The Brewers, however, won two of three when they last met, in Anaheim, in 2010.
