National League Game Summary - Philadelphia at Cincinnati, Game Two

(Wednesday, April 17th)

Final Score: Cincinnati 11, Philadelphia 2

Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - The Cincinnati Reds quickly ended Tuesday's suspended game with a win and rode the momentum into the regularly scheduled series finale against the slumping Philadelphia Phillies.

Mike Leake highlighted Wednesday's 11-2 blowout victory with his arm and his bat as the Reds completed their three-game sweep.

Leake (1-0) hurled seven scoreless innings and struck out seven while allowing as many hits as he recorded himself, as he went 3-for-4, scored three times and knocked in a run with a triple.

Zack Cozart also had three of Cincinnati's 15 hits and belted a two-run homer, while Brandon Phillips had three RBI in the rout.

"It seemed like the hitting just kept on going," Cozart said.

The Phillies lost a 1-0 decision in the conclusion of Tuesday's rain- interrupted contest and scored just 10 runs on their disappointing 2-4 road trip.

"Sometimes you go through periods where you don't hit," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said.

Freddy Galvis accounted for Wednesday's offense with a two-run homer in the eighth inning off Justin Freeman, but by that time the outcome was already decided.

The Reds, who had dropped five straight entering the series, knocked John Lannan (0-1) out in the second as the veteran right-hander was tagged for six runs on eight hits.

Cozart nearly took Lannan deep in the first frame when he hit one off the top of the wall in left field for a double. Phillips knocked in Cozart with a two- out single, and the Reds tacked on five runs in their next at-bat.

Todd Frazier started the surge with a leadoff homer, and Leake hit a stand-up triple to deep center to plate Devin Mesoraco before scoring on Derrick Robinson's base hit. Jay Bruce's two-out, two-run single ended Lannan's night, and Cincinnati continued tacking on against the Phillies' bullpen.

Raul Valdes surrendered three runs in the third, two coming on Phillips' bases-loaded single, then served up Cozart's towering two-run blast into the second deck in left two innings later.

Game Notes

Tony Cingrani is expected to start Thursday's game against the Marlins, ending the Reds' streak of 180 consecutive right-handed starters ...
