American League Preview from The Sports Network

Saturday, August 10th (All times Eastern)

Minnesota Twins (51-62) at Chicago White Sox (43-71), 4:05 p.m.

Probable Starting Pitchers: Minnesota - Mike Pelfrey (4-9, 5.23) Chicago - Andre Rienzo (0-0, 1.38)

(Sports Network) - Mike Pelfrey hasn't won in more than a month. The Minnesota right-hander gets back on the mound Saturday afternoon trying to end a five- start winless stretch when the Twins resume a four-game series against the Chicago White Sox.

Pelfrey, who is 0-3 in the aforementioned span, is coming off a no-decision against Houston Sunday when he surrendered seven hits and a pair of runs in five innings. He has just one victory in his last 14 starts (1-6). That came July 6 at Toronto.

He's 0-1 with an 8.10 ERA in two career games against the White Sox.

Andre Rienzo makes his third major league appearance Saturday for the White Sox. The 25-year-old right-hander has given up a collective five runs -- two earned -- over his first two starts. That includes pitching six-plus innings at Detroit on Sunday when he surrendered four hits and a pair of runs.

The Twins opened this series by sweeping a doubleheader yesterday.

Oswaldo Arcia scorched a go-ahead homer in the top of the 10th inning to help the Twins to a 3-2 victory in the night contest.

Brian Duensing (6-1), the winning pitcher in the opener of the twin bill, also earned the victory in the nightcap after spinning a 1-2-3 ninth. Glen Perkins stranded a runner on third in the 10th to secure his 28th save of the season.

Josh Willingham tied the game with a solo blast in the eighth, while Chris Herrmann also went deep for the Twins, who downed the White Sox 7-5 in the opener behind a pair of homers, including a grand slam, from Justin Morneau.

"You don't win too many ballgames when you strike out that many times," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "The ball flies here. We put some good swings out there, got enough runs. The bullpen did a great job. Starters did a great job for us."

Alexei Ramirez smacked a solo homer in the fourth and Blake Tekotte tallied his first career homer for the White Sox, who were coming off a three-game sweep of the New York Yankees before dropping both games of the doubleheader.

Dylan Axelrod (4-9) yielded Arcia's leadoff homer in the 10th to absorb the loss.

Minnesota has won eight of its 10 meetings with the White Sox this season.
