Description: New York infielder Brendan Ryan won't be ready in time for Opening Day. SOURCE: Bryan Hoch, MLB.com
Insight: An MRI showed something pushing on a nerve in his back. Ryan is known more for his glove than his bat. In 2,368 big league at bats, he's hit just .237 with 19 HR and 189 RBI.

11/18/2013 1:40:00 PM
Description: Shortstop Brendan Ryan has reportedly reached a two-year, $5 million agreement with the New York Yankees.
Insight: Ryan is one of the league's best fielding shortstops, but a well below average hitter. He has no fantasy value and would simply be insurance behind Derek Jeter.

4/24/2013 12:59:00 PM
Description: Seattle shortstop Brendan Ryan has lost his starting job to Robert Andino.
Insight: Ryan is one of the league's best fielding shortstops, but he's batting .143 this season and hit just .194 last year. Andino is no Troy Tulowitzki, but he is a career .233 hitter.

6/23/2011 10:52:00 AM
Description: Brendan Ryan is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's day game against Washington. SOURCE: Rotowire
Insight: Ryan has been struggling of late, so this day off will definitely do him some good. Still, his numbers aren't good enough to consider him anything more than a backup in AL-only formats.

3/14/2011 6:50:00 AM
Description: Brendan Ryan is hitting just .136 in spring training. Meanwhile, Dustin Ackley's average has risen to .316.
Insight: We still think Ryan will open the season at 2B and keep the spot warm for Ackley for two months. At that point the youngster will take over - probably for many years.

2/11/2011 7:54:00 PM
Description: Persistent lates for practices and other training sessions contributed to Brendan Ryan leaving St. Louis. SOURCE: INSIDESTL.COM
Insight: Ryan will be on a short leash in Seattle with Dustin Ackley breathing down his neck. We expect Ackley to take the 2B job in June or July.

12/12/2010 7:50:00 PM
Description: Brendan Ryan has been traded to Seattle for minor league pitcher Maikel Cleto. SOURCE: SEATTLE TIMES
Insight: The Mariners are expected to place Ryan at 2B where he will play in most games. He was one of baseball's worst hitters last year but he blamed the problems on injuries. If he can revert to his 2009 form he can help AL-Only owners but not those in mixed leagues.

12/12/2010 8:17:00 AM
Description: Brendan Ryan has drawn some interest from the Twins. SOURCE: KEN ROSENTHAL
Insight: They would be looking at him as a backup or utility player and that's what we expect his role will be wherever he signs. He won't be useful in mixed leagues.

8/2/2010 12:54:00 PM
Description: Ryan went 3-for-3 with a double and three runs scored against Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Description: The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports Ryan is not in the starting lineup on Thursday againt Houston.
