Insight: Gattis revealed Friday that he had arthroscopic surgery to remove a bone chip that had been "floating around" in his right knee since 2006. Gattis will be the Braves everyday catcher this season after producing 21 homers and 65 RBI in 105 games as a backup catcher/part-time outfielder last season.

Insight: Gattis starrted 38 games at catcher and 47 in the outfield last season, but with Brian McCann jumping ship, he'll get the first chance at the job behind the plate. Gattis batted .243 with 21 HR and 65 RBI last season, but most of the damage was done in the first half of the season. His first half OPS was .873 vs. .678 after the break.

Insight: His first home run of the day, a solo shot to center field in the second inning, was particularly note-worthy. Not only was it the longest home run hit in the major leagues this season at 486 feet, but it was also the longest homer in the nine-year history of Citizen's Bank Park. Ryan Howard held the previous record at 473 feet.
