Hot6/24/2014 9:55:00 PM
Description: New York starter Bartolo Colon turned in another strong outing Tuesday against Oakland.
Insight: Colon (8-5, 3.67 ERA) limited his former team to one run in eight innings. The big right-hander is 6-0 with a 1.58 ERA since May 17th.

Hot6/18/2014 6:29:00 PM
Description: Mets starter Bartolo Colon got his ERA below four Wednesday for the first time since his second start of the season.
Insight: Colon allowed one run on four hits over eight innings at St. Louis to improve to 7-5 with a 3.88 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP. He's allowed three homers in his last 43 1/3 innings (1.66 ERA).

Hot6/2/2014 10:46:00 PM
Description: Mets starter Bartolo Colon moved to 5-5 with a win Monday against the Phillies.
Insight: It looks like Colon is rounding into form (no pun intended). Over his last three starts, the 41-year-old is 3-0 with 19 strikeouts and a 1.62 ERA. He'll look for his fourth straight win next time out against San Francisco.

Hot5/28/2014 8:02:00 PM
Description: New York right-hander Bartolo Colon tossed 7 1/3 shutout innings Wednesday in a win over Pittsburgh.
Insight: Colon (4-5, 4.73 ERA) has won each of his last two starts, allowing just ten hits and two runs over 15 1/3 innings. We'll see him pitch again Monday versus the Phillies.

5/17/2014 7:04:00 PM
Description: Mets starter Bartolo Colon tossed eight innings of two-run ball Saturday in a win at Washington.
Insight: Colon allowed 11 hits and six earned runs in his previous start and has a 5.34 ERA this season. The right-hander throws a fastball (four-seam or two-seam) nearly 90 percent of the time and doesn't have a reliable off-speed pitch to fall back on when the heater isn't working, which has been the case often in 2014.

5/6/2014 9:35:00 PM
Description: Mets starter Bartolo Colon gave up three earned runs on seven hits in seven innings Tuesday at Miami.
Insight: Colon (2-5, 5.36 ERA, 1.37 WHIP) has thrown five quality starts in seven turns this season but allowed 16 earned runs on 21 hits in 9 2/3 innings the other two.

4/24/2014 6:01:00 PM
Description: Mets starter Bartolo Colon gave up four hits and one run in seven innings Thursday afternoon to beat the Cardinals.
Insight: Colon struck out eight and walked none. The 40-year-old's ERA is still 4.50 because he gave up nine runs in five innings on April 13, but he has thrown quality starts in each of his other four outings this season (2-2, 2.33 ERA).

4/16/2014 1:10:00 PM
Description: Mets manager Terry Collins emphatically said that Bartolo Colon (back) will make his scheduled start Saturday, according to espnny.com.
Insight: Colon dealt with a back issue during Sunday's start and ended up allowing four homers and nine earned runs in five innings against the Angels. Collins said he has no concern about Colon's back.

4/16/2014 9:13:00 AM
Description: Mets starter Bartolo Colon is questionable for his next start on Saturday due to a back injury, according to the New York Daily News.
Insight: Colon dealt with the issue during Sunday's start and ended up allowing four homers and nine earned runs in five innings against the Angels.

4/13/2014 9:37:00 PM
Description: Mets starter Bartolo Colon served up four big flies to the Angels on Sunday.
Insight: Colon only gave up 14 HRs in 190 1/3 innings with the Athletics last year; he has allowed six in 18 this year. The right-hander went 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA against the Angels in 2013 but they crushed their former AL West counterpart on Sunday.

4/8/2014 10:35:00 PM
Description: Mets starter Bartolo Colon shut out the Braves over seven innings Tuesday to earn his first win with the team.
Insight: Colon scattered five hits and had a 5/0 K/BB. The 30-year-old walked just 29 batters in 190 1/3 innings last season and went 18-6 with a 2.65 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP.

Description: Veteran Bartolo Colon has agreed to a two-year, $20 million deal with the Mets. SOURCE: Ken Rosenthal, Fox Sports
Insight: Colon had one of his best seasons in 2013, going 18-6 with a 2.65 ERA in 30 starts for the A's. He'll be 42 when his contract expires.

12/2/2013 8:32:00 PM
Description: Now that the A's have signed lefthander Scott Kazmir, they're probably out of the running for Bartolo Colon. SOURCE: Susan Slusser, San Francisco Chronicle
Insight: In an unusual move, Billy Beane opened up his pocket book and forked over $22 million for Kazmir, who figures to be a four or five starter at best. Given the team's tight budget, Colon is probably out of the equation. The 40-year-old had a resurgent season in 2013 and shouldn't have any difficulty securing a new contract.

Hot10/1/2013 9:50:00 PM
Description: Athletics starter Bartolo Colon will start Game 1 of the ALDS Friday against the Detroit Tigers. SOURCE: Susan Slusser, San Francisco Chronicle
Insight: Colon finished second in the American League with both a 2.65 ERA and 18 wins. In two starts against the Tigers this season, Colon threw 12 innings, allowed four runs on 15 hits and struck out six with no walks.

Hot9/28/2013 10:10:00 AM
Description: Athletics starter Bartolo Colon struck out eight and allowed two runs on three hits over six innings in his final start of the regular season Friday against the Mariners.
Insight: The 40-year-old went 4-0 with a 1.04 ERA in his final four starts and won 18 games with six losses, a 2.65 ERA, a 1.17 WHIP and a 1.37 BB/9 on the year. His performance really came out of nowhere after he went just 32-40 with a 4.38 ERA in 573 2/3 innings from 2006-12 and was suspended for PED use last season.

Hot9/21/2013 9:23:00 AM
Description: A's ace Bartolo Colon stayed hot by tossing six shutout innings Friday in a win over Minnesota.
Insight: The 40-year-old has been brilliant down the stretch. Over his three-game win streak, he's held opponents to one run in 20 innings. His strikeout to walk ratio over that span is 22 to three.

Hot9/14/2013 8:15:00 PM
Description: Oakland starter Bartolo Colon fired eight scoreless frames Saturday in a win over Texas.
Insight: Colon hit a rough patch right after the All-Star break but he's been brilliant since coming off the DL on August 29th. Over that span, he's 2-1 with a 1.13 ERA in 24 innings. The 16 wins Colon has collected this season are his most since 2005 when he won the Cy Young Award for Anaheim (21-8 that season).

8/29/2013 7:33:00 PM
Description: A's righthander Bartolo Colon pitched well in his return from a strained groin Thursday against the Tigers (5 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 K, 0 BB).
Insight: He would have picked up the win too, if not for Torii Hunter's game-winning homer in the ninth inning. Colon's numbers this year are a bit puzzling. Though he boasts a strong ERA (2.94 in 25 starts), opponents have actually hit pretty well against him (.270 AVG). Colon's next start is Tuesday against Texas.

8/27/2013 5:40:00 PM
Description: The Athletics have confirmed that Bartolo Colon (groin) will start Thursday at Detroit, according to Jane Lee of MLB.com.
Insight: Colon lost two straight starts and posted a 13.50 ERA prior to going on the disabled list with a groin injury, but he had gone 11-1 with a 1.69 ERA in 15 starts before that.
