National League Game Summary - Milwaukee at New York

(Thursday, September 26th)

Final Score: Milwaukee 4, New York 2

Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - Scooter Gennett knocked in the last two of a four-run second inning, and the Milwaukee Brewers captured a 4-2 win over the New York Mets in the opener of a four-game set at Citi Field.

Juan Francisco and Jeff Bianchi each had an RBI during the inning against New York starter Dillon Gee (12-11), who allowed seven hits over six innings and now has a loss in each of his three career starts against the Brewers.

Johnny Hellweg walked four and plunked a pair of batters -- including David Wright in the helmet -- and gave up one run over four innings. Alfredo Figaro (3-3) fired a pair of scoreless frames for Milwaukee, winners in four of five.

"Second time up -- I definitely wanted to show more," Hellweg said. "There are a few positives, a couple of things I'd like to do better. That's why they give guys a chance in September and give guys a look. Hopefully, I did enough to get some more in Spring Training."

Jim Henderson allowed a home run to Josh Satin in the ninth before notching his 27th save of the season.

Francisco and Bianchi had back-to-back run scoring singles, with Francisco grounding one past Daniel Murphy at second and Bianchi dropping a bloop in front of a charging Matt den Dekker in center. Both then came in to score on Gennett's base hit to left that spotted the Brewers a 4-0 lead.

Eric Young scored the first run for New York, reaching with a one-out walk before swiping second and advancing to third on catcher Jonathan Lucroy's throwing error.

Murphy's groundout made it 4-1, but New York left three runners stranded in the inning. Wright was removed for precautionary reasons after taking a pitch off the side of his helmet, and Helweg proceeded to plunk Lucas Duda immediately after. Mike Baxter worked a walk to load the bases, but den Dekker struck out to end the threat.

"Just more precautionary; they didn't want me to stay in the game. I feel pretty good," Wright said. "I passed all the concussion tests. I went through that protocol. Everything seems like it's good."

Satin homered in the ninth, but the Mets ended 0-for-14 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.

Game Notes

Gee is one inning shy of 200 for the season ... The Brewers went 3-for-12 with RISP and stranded six.
