Description: Delmon Young will start at designated hitter in Game 4 of the ALCS against the Royals on Wednesday.
Insight: That's assuming one counts the DH as starting. Baltimore manager Buck Showalter obviously wants to shake things up a bit and put his best lineup on the field. Nelson Cruz is in left field and Steve Pearce will bat second. Alejandro De Aza begins the game on the bench.

10/3/2014 4:30:00 PM
Description: Baltimore DH Delmon Young comes up big off bench against Detroit.
Insight: With the Orioles down two in the eighth inning, Young pinch-hit for Ryan Flaherty with the bases loaded. He cleared the bases with an RBI double, giving Baltimore a 7-6 lead, which ended up being the final score. The clutch hit gives the Orioles a 2-0 series lead, heading into Detroit on Sunday.

4/23/2014 1:20:00 PM
Description: Baltimore DH Delmon Young has been awful in his career against Toronto right-hander Dustin McGowan (2-for-15 with four strikeouts).
Insight: Obviously that doesn't bode well for Wednesday. Given the matchup, there's a good chance Buck Showalter sits him.

4/9/2014 8:18:00 PM
Description: Orioles outfielder Delmon Young had another three-hit game Wednesday against the Yankees.
Insight: Young went 6-for-11 with a double and a homer over the last two days. He may steal at-bats from David Lough, who has been out of the lineup with concussion-like symptoms but won't be placed on the DL.

4/8/2014 8:18:00 PM
Description: Orioles outfielder Delmon Young went 3-for-6 with a homer and three RBI Tuesday against the Yankees.
Insight: Roch Kubatko reported Tuesday that David Lough will be placed on the disabled list Wednesday. That could lead to an everyday spot in the lineup for Young.

1/13/2014 9:45:00 PM
Description: Journeyman Delmon Young has found a new home. He's headed to Baltimore on a minor league deal.
Insight: He'll attempt to make the team out of spring training. In 103 games between Philadelphia and Tampa Bay last season, Young generated 11 HR and 38 RBI while hitting .260.

9/1/2013 3:28:00 PM
Description: With the rosters expanding from 25 to 40 on Sunday, the Rays decided to call up outfielder/DH Delmon Young from Double-A Montgomery.
Insight: Young hit .233 with a homer and three RBI during his seven-game stay in Montgomery. Tampa Bay's outfield is pretty crowded at the moment so the bulk of Young's at bats will come as a DH.

8/22/2013 2:13:00 PM
Description: The Rays have signed Delmon Young to a minor league contract and assigned him to Double-A Montgomery.
Insight: The Phillies released Young after he hit .261 with eight homers and a .699 OPS in 272 at-bats, and now he'll return to the organization that drafted him first overall in 2003. He hasn't had fantasy value since 2010.

8/12/2013 8:20:00 PM
Description: Phillies outfielder Delmon Young has been designated for assignment.
Insight: Young actually wasn't having a bad season (.261, 8 HR, 31 RBI in 80 games) but he doesn't fit the team's plans for rebuilding. Young's not a great defender so signing with an American League team where he could play DH makes the most sense.

Cold5/31/2013 10:35:00 AM
Description: Philadelphia outfielder Delmon Young is hitless in seven at-bats versus Milwaukee starter Yovani Gallardo.
Insight: Young hasn't done much since returning from injury, batting .222 this season with a .676 OPS. Facing Gallardo isn't likely to help.

4/30/2013 2:05:00 PM
Description: Philadelphia outfielder Delmon Young has been activated and is on the way to join the team in Cleveland where he is a prime candidate for the DH role, according to Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com.
Insight: Young's recovery from offseason ankle surgery took longer than expected and he's going to be a defensive liability, but he should be useful in the DH role and as a pinch hitter. At this point, however, we feel his fantasy value is limited.

4/22/2013 12:08:00 PM
Description: Philadelphia outfielder Delmon Young went 1-for-4 in his first rehab game on Sunday.
Insight: Young's recovery from offseason ankle surgery has taken longer than expected. Worse, he played poorly in the field and won't be able to help fantasy owners on a regular basis until/unless that improves.

3/30/2013 9:00:00 PM
Description: Philadelphia outfielder Delmon Young has officially been placed on the disabled list.
Insight: Young's recovery from offseason ankle surgery is taking longer than expected. Domonic Brown will be the Phillies' starting right fielder until Young is healthy.

3/16/2013 10:53:00 AM
Description: Phillies outfielder Delmon Young, who is recovering from November microfracture surgery on his ankle is running, but still not doing any "baseball activities."
Insight: He's not likely to be ready for the opener meaning he could lose his spot in line if guys like Domonic Brown, John Mayberry or Darin Ruf get off to a hot start. Young hasn't been much of a fantasy value since 2010 (.298, 21 HR, 112 RBI).

3/4/2013 11:21:00 AM
Description: Phillies outfielder Delmon Young, who is recovering from November microfracture surgery on his ankle is reportedly down to 225 pounds and could start running in a couple of days, according to Ken Rosenthal.
Insight: The outfielder has been mediocre in two seasons since a career year in 2010 (.298, 21 HR, 112 RBI), but the move to a smaller, more hitting-friendly ballpark could help him improve on his recent numbers. He's not likely to be ready for the opener meaning he could lose his spot in line if guys like Domonic Brown, John Mayberry or Darin Ruf get off to a hot start.

2/15/2013 10:40:00 AM
Description: The Phillies recently-acquired outfielder Delmon Young is behind schedule after microfracture surgery on his ankle in November and likely won't be ready to start the season, according to a philly.com report.
Insight: The outfielder has been mediocre in two seasons since a career year in 2010 (.298, 21 HR, 112 RBI), but the move to a smaller, more hitting-friendly ballpark could help him improve on his recent numbers. Fantasy owners will have to wait while Domonic Brown, Darin Ruf and John Mayberry Jr. get a chance to prove themselves, before Young is ready to get in a game, making Young a very risky selection on Draft Day.

1/22/2013 6:55:00 PM
Description: The Phillies have signed outfielder Delmon Young to a one-year contract.
Insight: Philadelphia will only pay Young $750,000 but the deal could be worth as much as $3.5 million if he reaches his incentives. The outfielder has been awful in two seasons since his career year in 2010 but a move to a favorable ballpark could help him improve his numbers.

10/31/2012 7:10:00 PM
Description: GM Dave Dombrowski says the Tigers won't look to re-sign designated hitter Delmon Young when he becomes a free agent this offseason.
Insight: With Victor Martinez (torn ACL) set to return in 2013, Detroit won't need Young anymore. The 2012 ALCS MVP hit .267 this year with 18 HR and 74 RBI.

Hot10/24/2012 9:35:00 AM
Description: Tigers DH Delmon Young, who took home the ALCS MVP, will start in left field for Game 1 against Barry Zito.
Insight: Young went 6-for-17 during the series with a pair of homers and six RBI and is also 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI against Zito in his career.

Hot10/18/2012 8:12:00 PM
Description: Tigers DH Delmon Young took home the ALCS MVP Award following a 2-for-4 performance on Thursday afternoon.
Insight: Young went 6-for-17 during the series with a pair of homers and six RBI. Over his last two postseasons, Young is hitting .265 with seven round-trippers and an impressive 14 RBI.
