Description: Chris Capuano's new one-year deal with the Red Sox is worth $2.25 million. SOURCE: Ron Chimelis, Springfield Republican
Insight: With Ryan Dempster taking the year off, Capuano (4-7, 4.26 ERA) will function as the team's primary long reliever. He'll be worth an add if one of Boston's starters gets hurt.

2/18/2014 8:26:00 PM
Description: The Red Sox and Mariners have both been in contact with free agent lefthander Chris Capuano. SOURCE: Ken Rosenthal, Fox Sports and Jon Heyman, CBS Sports
Insight: Capuano (4-7, 4.26 ERA in 24 games with the Dodgers in 2013) makes sense for Boston now that Ryan Dempster has decided not to pitch this year. The 35-year-old lefthander is reportedly looking for a two-year deal.

9/6/2013 9:39:00 PM
Description: Dodgers lefthander Chris Capuano was pulled from his start Friday because of a strained groin. SOURCE: Orange County Register
Insight: He only lasted an inning and two thirds. Capuano (4-7, 4.34 ERA) is questionable to make his next start Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.

9/1/2013 8:43:00 AM
Description: Dodgers pitcher Chris Capuano had his best start since Aug. 3 Saturday against the Padres, firing seven innings and striking out seven while allowing one run on eight hits.
Insight: Capuano needs to keep pitching like this to hold off Edinson Volquez, who was picked up after being released by the Padres. Capuano had a 4.41 ERA in August and isn't an option for fantasy owners at this time.

Hot8/3/2013 7:55:00 PM
Description: Dodgers pitcher Chris Capuano posted his second consecutive solid outing, yielding just six hits and zero runs over 6 1/3 IP.
Insight: Capuano was coming off 6 2/3 innings of shut out baseball and is finally starting to yield quality results. The long-term problem is inconsistency - in his last eight outings he's given up zero runs five times, but yielded five earned runs the other three times.

7/23/2013 10:36:00 PM
Description: Dodgers pitcher Chris Capuano gave up five runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings Tuesday at Toronto.
Insight: Capuano was solid last year, posting a 3.72 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP in 198 1/3 innings, but after Tuesday's outing his ERA this year is 5.03 and his WHIP is 1.44. He's too up-and-down to own in any leagues.

6/23/2013 10:05:00 PM
Description: Dodgers pitcher Chris Capuano only lasted five innings and 74 pitches Sunday, but they were effective. He limited the Padres to four hits and didn't walk a batter or allow a run.
Insight: Capuano was pitching on short rest after starting one game of a doubleheader against the Yankees Wednesday. The lefty has allowed just seven hits with a 0.00 ERA and a 9/0 K/BB in 11 innings since returning from the DL. Feel free to use him for his next start at home against the Phillies.

Description: Dodgers lefthander Chris Capuano will pitch on short rest Sunday versus the Padres. SOURCE: Ken Gurnick, Dodgers.com
Insight: Capuano notched his second win of the year Wednesday against the Yankees. He's 0-1 against San Diego this season with a 9.64 ERA in three appearances.

6/21/2013 8:55:00 PM
Description: Dodgers lefty Chris Capuano is an option to pitch Sunday on short rest, according to Bill Shaikin of the LA Times.
Insight: Capuano returned from the DL and threw six scoreless innings of three-hit ball Wednesday against the Yankees, but he only threw 84 pitches. Due to Wednesday's doubleheader, the Dodgers will either have to go with someone on short rest or call up someone for a spot start.

6/19/2013 10:08:00 PM
Description: Dodgers lefty Chris Capuano dominated Wednesday in his return from the disabled list.
Insight: Making his first start since May 29th, Capuano allowed three hits over six shutout innings. Don Mattingly played it safe and took Capuano (2-4, 4.62 ERA) out after only 84 pitches. He should be back around 100 pitches in his next start Tuesday against the Giants.

6/19/2013 7:23:00 PM
Description: Los Angeles starter Chris Capuano has been activated from the DL.
Insight: He'll start Game 2 of the doubleheader Wednesday against the Yankees. He's never beaten the Yankees in two career starts (0-2, 10.61 ERA).

6/12/2013 5:50:00 PM
Description: Dodgers lefty Chris Capuano (lat) is expected to return from the DL June 19 against the Yankees, according to MLB.com.
Insight: Capuano, who is 1-4 with a 5.45 ERA in 33 innings, hasn't pitched since May 29. This is his second DL stint of the season. He'll start a minor league rehab assignment Friday.

6/11/2013 7:50:00 PM
Description: Dodgers lefthander Chris Capuano (lat) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque Friday, according to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times.
Insight: Capuano, who is 1-4 with a 5.45 ERA in 33 innings, hasn't pitched since May 29. This is his second DL stint of the season.

6/4/2013 7:24:00 PM
Description: Dodgers lefthander Chris Capuano (lat) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, according to ESPNLosAngeles.com.
Insight: Capuano was scratched from Monday's start due to what was thought to be a triceps injury, but it is his left lat muscle that is hurt. Stephen Fife, who started Monday and allowed one run on five hits in 5 1/3 innings against the Padres, is likely to take Capuano's rotation spot but is only a matchup play.

6/3/2013 7:19:00 PM
Description: Dodgers lefthander Chris Capuano won't start Monday against San Diego. He's out with a strained triceps. SOURCE: Bill Plunkett, Orange County Register
Insight: That opens up the door for Stephen Fife to make his second start of the year. It's unknown if Capuano (1-4, 5.45 ERA) will require a stint on the disabled list.

6/2/2013 10:17:00 PM
Description: Los Angeles lefty Chris Capuano is expected to miss Monday's start against San Diego. SOURCE: Dodgers on Twitter
Insight: He's battling a strained triceps. Stephen Fife would be called on to make his second start of the year if Capuano is scratched.

5/18/2013 10:01:00 PM
Description: Dodgers starter Chris Capuano allowed five hits and one run over 7 1/3 innings Saturday against the Braves, but Kenley Jansen served up two homers to blow a 1-0 lead.
Insight: Capuano has surrendered 10 hits and two earned runs and walked just one over his last 13 2/3 innings. He was a solid fantasy starter last year and isn't a bad option going forward.

4/25/2013 2:04:00 PM
Description: Dodgers starter Chris Capuano (calf strain) is on track to be activated May 3, the first day he is eligible to come off the DL. SOURCE: LATimes.com
Insight: Capuano threw a bullpen session Wednesday. The lefty was chosen to fill in for the injured Zack Greinke, who is out with a broken collarbone, but he suffered a left calf strain in his first start of the season. Chad Billingsley underwent Tommy John surgery this week, so Capuano and Ted Lilly are both expected to remain in the rotation when Capuano returns. Stephen Fife will be the odd man out.

4/17/2013 7:23:00 PM
Description: Dodgers starter Chris Capuano has been placed on the DL with a left calf strain.
Insight: Dodgers manager Don Mattingly chose Capuano as Zack Greinke's fill-in, but the lefty lasted just two innings in his first start of the year. The team likely will have to turn to Ted Lilly, who has been building up his arm in the minors.

4/17/2013 5:30:00 PM
Description: Dodgers starter Chris Capuano will undergo an MRI on his strained calf.
Insight: Capuano left his first start of the season Tuesday one inning after suffering the injury while covering first base. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly chose Capuano over Ted Lilly as a fill-in for Zack Greinke, but Lilly may ultimately have to enter the rotation.
