American League Game Summary - Seattle at Tampa Bay

St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Rays were staring at their longest losing streak in four years, but they kicked it into gear just in time.

Each batter reached in the bottom of the ninth and Jason Bourgeois knocked in the winning run, as the Rays ended a six-game skid with a 5-4 comeback victory over the Seattle Mariners Wednesday at Tropicana Field.

Tampa Bay entered the final frame behind by a run, but Matt Joyce tied the score following a leadoff triple from Ben Zobrist and Bourgeois sent the fans home happy with a shot well past the positioning of right fielder Endy Chavez.

Danny Farquhar (0-1) didn't record an out and was charged with four hits, two runs and a blown save that prevented Seattle from capturing its third straight win.

"Forget about it and move on," Farquhar said of the blown save. "Can't dwell on one so just move on and get them tomorrow."

Tampa Bay had opportunities to score in the sixth and eighth innings, specifically Ryan Roberts, who struck out to end both frames to leave a combined five men stranded on base. However, the Rays were able to break through in the ninth.

Zobrist drilled Farquhar's fourth pitch to deep right field and it just missed a home run, as the ball knocked off the yellow lining on the top of the fence and caromed back on to the field for a triple.

Joyce slapped a single to center to even the score at 4-4 and Evan Longoria proceeded to rip a sharp line drive down the left-field line for a double. Farquhar then intentionally walked Wil Myers to face Bourgeois, who was only in the game because he entered as a pinch-runner in the eighth. He proved to be the hero, though, driving in the winning run.

Joel Peralta (2-5) was flawless in the top half of the ninth and picked up the win. David Price started for Tampa and struck out seven over seven innings, but was charged with all of the Mariners' runs.

Price slipped in the first inning, plunking Kyle Seager with two away and allowing him to reach second on a stolen base. Seager moved up another bag on Price's wild pitch, then scored on Kendrys Morales' single to center.

Aaron Harang took the mound for Seattle and the Rays didn't record their first hit off him until the fourth, but it led to a run. Joyce reached with a single, moved up on a walk to Longoria and scored on James Loney's one-out base hit to tie the game at 1-1.

Price settled in to retire the next 12 batters he faced, but again struggled to get the last out, this time in the fifth inning.

Dustin Ackley worked a walk and Humberto Quintero followed with a single. Brad Miller then laced a triple into the left field gap to score both runners and Nick Franklin's ensuing double made it 4-1 Mariners.

"I wasn't able to make pitches and that's what I've been doing and that's what I didn't do as well tonight, especially with two outs," Price said of his outing.

Myers cut into the Rays' deficit in the sixth, crushing a two-run homer. Harang was pulled after giving up singles to Loney and Yunel Escobar, but reliever Charlie Furbush stranded the runners by retiring Sean Rodriguez, Jose Molina and pinch-hitter Roberts in order.

Roberts had an opportunity again in the eighth with the bases loaded, but struck out for the second time to allow the Mariners to cling to a one-run lead.

Game Notes

The Rays avoided their longest losing streak since an 11-game slide from Sept. 3-13, 2009 ... Harang made his first start against Tampa Bay since 2002 ... The Rays were 4-for-12 with runners in scoring position.
