(Sports Network) - Former second-round pick Trevor Cahill tries to end a four- start drought to start 2013 when the Arizona Diamondbacks host the Colorado Rockies on Thursday night to begin a four-game series at Chase Field.

Cahill, selected by Oakland in 2006, was a 12-game winner with the Athletics in 2011 before a December trade sent him to Arizona.

He won 13 times in 32 starts with the Diamondbacks last year, but has racked up three losses and a no-decision in four starts while allowing 11 runs in 25 innings.

Arizona has been outscored, 15-8, in his four outings.

He tossed seven innings and allowed three runs in his most recent start on April 20 in Colorado, dropping a 4-3 decision to fall to 1-4 lifetime against the Rockies.

Arizona starts lefty Jorge De La Rosa, who defeated Cahill and the Rockies in the April 20 game.

The 32-year-old allowed two hits in six scoreless innings in the victory, which upped him to 7-3 in 17 career meetings with Colorado.

The Mexican export, who turned 32 earlier this month, has tossed six scoreless innings in each of his last two starts after allowing seven runs in 10 1/3 innings of his initial two outings.

He is 0-3 in five career starts at Chase Field.

On Wednesday in Colorado, Yorvit Torrealba cracked a single to left field to drive in the winning run as the Rockies avoided a three-game sweep with a 6-5 win over the Atlanta Braves in 12 innings at Coors Field.

Wilin Rosario led off the decisive frame with a double to left. Michael Cuddyer was intentionally walked, and after relief pitcher Matt Belisle struck out attempting to bunt the runners over, Torrealba came to the plate and won it for Colorado, which got back to its winning ways after a three-game losing skid.

Belisle (1-1) earned the win after tossing two perfect innings out of the pen. Cuddyer and Josh Rutledge each homered for the Rockies while Jonathan Herrera went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Dexter Fowler drove in two.

In San Francisco, Wil Nieves hit a pinch-hit sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th inning to plate the go-ahead run and help the Diamondbacks defeat the Giants, 3-2, in the rubber match of a three-game set.

Gerardo Parra scored one run and had an RBI, Didi Gregorius had two doubles and a run scored and A.J. Pollock also drove in one run for the Diamondbacks, who have won two straight.

Ian Kennedy, who was trying for a sixth straight win versus the Giants, gave up just four hits and one run over six frames. He also walked two and fanned four. David Hernandez (1-1) earned the win despite blowing a save in the ninth.

The Rockies won two of three games between the teams earlier this month in Colorado, while Arizona won the 2012 series, 10-8.
