National League Preview from The Sports Network

Friday, April 26th (All times eastern)

Chicago Cubs (7-14) at Miami Marlins (5-17), 7:10 p.m.

Probable Starting Pitchers: Chicago - Scott Feldman (0-3, 4.50) Miami - Wade LeBlanc (0-3, 6.27)

(Sports Network) - Right-hander Scott Feldman will try to make it two straight wins for the Chicago Cubs on Friday night when they visit Marlins Park for the second of four games with the Miami Marlins.

The Cubs took the opener on Thursday when Luis Valbuena hit a go-ahead home run in the ninth inning for a 4-3 win.

With two outs in the inning, Valbuena took the first pitch off the Marlins' Steve Cishek (1-3) and smashed it into right to break the 3-3 tie.

"He's been consistent. His at-bats, and his defense, he's just been good. He has four home runs, he's done a great job," Cubs manager Dale Sveum said.

Nate Schierholtz knocked a solo homer while David DeJesus and Welington Castillo each had an RBI for the Cubs, who came into the game 1-5 in the midst of a 10-game road trip.

Cubs starter Edwin Jackson allowed three runs on five hits and four walks in six innings in a no-decision. Shawn Camp (1-1) pitched a perfect eighth to pick up the win and Carlos Marmol escaped trouble in the ninth to notch his second save.

Juan Pierre had an RBI and two stolen bases for the Marlins, who have the worst record in the league. Giancarlo Stanton and Rob Brantly also drove in a run apiece in defeat, their sixth in eight games. Starter Kevin Slowey gave up three runs on five hits over six innings.

"I felt good and I think as a starting pitcher all you can ask is to have the faith of your manager and the faith of your pitching coach. I think they had faith in me," Slowey said.

Feldman, a six-game winner in 29 appearances last season with Texas, became a free agent after the season and joined the Cubs in November after agreeing to a one-year deal worth $6 million.

He's dropped decisions in each of his first three starts with Chicago while failing to pitch more than five innings in any outing.

He lasted 4 2/3 and 4 1/3 innings, respectively, against Atlanta and San Francisco to begin the season, then went five while allowing four runs in a 4-2 loss at Milwaukee on April 21.

Feldman has never faced the Marlins.

Miami counters with lefty Wade LeBlanc, who's also dropped his initial three decisions of 2013.

The Louisiana native opened with five innings of three-run ball in a loss at Washington on April 4, then gave up a combined 15 hits and nine runs in 9 2/3 innings while losing at home to Atlanta and the Nationals.

He got a no-decision in his most recent start at Cincinnati on April 20 after giving up two runs on seven hits in four innings of a 3-2 Miami loss.

LeBlanc won his lone career start against the Cubs.

The Marlins won four of six games between the teams in 2012.
