National League Game Summary - Arizona at Colorado

(Tuesday, June 3)

Final Score: Arizona 4, Colorado 2

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris Owings went 3-for-4 and was a single shy of the cycle, as the Arizona Diamondbacks took down the Colorado Rockies, 4-2, in the opener of a three-game set.

Owings made a winner out of Chase Anderson (4-0), who continued his success with a fourth straight win after going six innings, allowing one run on four hits.

"I knew it was tough lineup coming into the game," said Anderson. "They are great hitters, but tonight was a great night. I was able to keep the ball down for the most part. (The) defense made some really good plays behind me."

Nick Evans also homered for the Diamondbacks, who snapped a three-game losing streak.

D.J. LeMahieu and Troy Tulowitzki each had solo shots for Colorado, which dropped its fifth straight game.

"There is no secret words or magic potion, we just have to fight through it," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said of the losing skid. "We're in a little bit of a funk here offensively, we just have to fight through it."

Jorge De La Rosa (6-4) took his first loss to Arizona at Coors Field after yielding three runs on seven hits over seven innings of work.

De La Rosa entered the game with an 8-0 record and 1.79 ERA in 10 home starts against the D-backs.

Evans and Owings opened the fourth with back-to-back homers to give the D- backs a 2-0 lead. Ender Inciarte followed with a single and later scored on a groundout by Gerardo Parra.

The homer from Evans was his first hit as a member of the Diamondbacks and his first since September 3, 2011.

Colorado got one back in the fifth when LeMahieu hit a solo shot to begin the frame.

Arizona added insurance in the eighth when Owings clubbed an RBI double that plated David Peralta.

Tulowitzki welcomed Arizona closer Addison Reed to the contest with a solo blast to center that cut the deficit to 4-2 in the ninth.

Reed then allowed a single to Corey Dickerson, but retired the next three batters to record his 15th save of the season.

Game Notes

De La Rosa had won six of his last seven starts overall entering the game ... Arizona went 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position, while Colorado went 0- for-4 in such instances ... Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez left the game after five innings with finger inflammation ... Rockies' Jordan Lyles will oppose Josh Collmenter in Wednesday's middle game.
