National League Game Summary - Philadelphia at New York

(Sunday, July 21st)

Final Score: New York 5, Philadelphia 0

Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - Matt Harvey stifled the Philadelphia Phillies' bats over seven strong innings and the New York Mets supported the phenom with three home runs in Sunday's 5-0 win.

Harvey (8-2), back on the Citi Field mound after starting Tuesday's All-Star Game, recorded 10 strikeouts and did not walk a batter in his first home win since April 19.

The right-hander didn't allow a hit until Chase Utley's one-out single in the fourth. The Phillies mustered only two more hits, a Michael Young single and a Delmon Young double, before Harvey gave way to Scott Atchison after throwing 112 pitches in the rubber match of a three-game set.

Fellow All-Star Cliff Lee (10-4) got the starting nod for Philadelphia and he was victimized by the long ball again. The southpaw, making his 300th career start, lasted six frames and surrendered seven hits, three of which were homers. Lee gave up four solo homers in his final pre-All-Star outing, a 5-1 loss to Washington.

"You've got to give Harvey a lot of credit today," Lee said. "He's been pitching unbelievable and he didn't allow us to score. I knew going in that it was going to be a game where I couldn't allow too many runs."

David Wright and Marlon Byrd hit consecutive homers to left field with two outs in the first inning, the first time this season the Mets went back-to- back.

"Coming out and swinging like that, the home runs, it was awesome," Harvey said.

It remained a 2-0 game until the fourth inning, when a second video review resulted Juan Lagares being credited with a three-run blast, not an RBI double.

The umpires had signaled the ball hit by Wright in the opening frame a home run, but still looked at the replay to confirm their ruling. The liner clearly ricocheted off the railing above the wall.

Lagares' drive was not as definitive as the ball appeared to hit the top of the wall in left. However, the video evidence showed a carom off the railing, too.

Game Notes

Harvey was 0-2 in his previous nine home starts despite a 2.56 ERA ... Wright now has 219 career home runs, one behind Mike Piazza for second place on the Mets' all-time list ... Byrd has driven in at least one run in five straight games ... The Phillies were looking to win their fifth straight series ... Lee suffered his second loss in 12 road starts this season and first since May 1 at Cleveland ... Atchison allowed one hit in two innings of work ... New York second baseman Daniel Murphy had a 10-game hitting streak come to an end after going 0-for-4.
