— NC State's Nick Surkamp scored a pair of goals and Fabian Otte cemented his third shutout of the season as the Wolfpack captured a 2-0 win over Davidson, Tuesday at Dail Soccer Stadium.

"I thought our guys came out really strong," said NC State head coach Kelly Findley. "We scored one goal, and probably could have gotten another in the first eight minutes. I thought we showed a lot of discipline and a great mentality."

The Pack (4-1-1) wasted no time in securing an advantage over the Wildcats (4-3-1), taking a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute. Surkamp did the damage on a rebound off of the right post following Alex Martinez's shot from the left half of the box.

The goal marked Surkamp's third of the year, and he'd add to that total in the 56th minute.

After taking a 1-0 lead into the half, State went into attack mode early in the second. Surkamp's 56th minute goal came on a play run through senior Nazmi Albadawi.

Holden Fender held possession on the left side, and sent a low pass to the top of the goal box. Albadawi stepped into position, then peeled away to draw a defender. Surkamp raced in behind him, taking the pass to the right half, and ripping a shot back to the left post.

That score made it 2-0 in favor of the Wolfpack, but State's defense had to hold strong for the next 34 minutes to preserve the shutout.

Otte led the way with a handful of acrobatic saves, finishing with five on the evening. The senior records the 11th shutout of his career, placing him two shy of tying David Allred for seventh on NC State's career shutout list.

NC State returns to action on Friday, September 27 at 7 p.m. to host Boston College. Streaming coverage will be provided by GoPack All-Access. Live stats will be available on GoPack.com. Fans can also follow along on Twitter via @PackMensSoccer.
