The Carolina Mudcats capitalized on timely hits and five Wilmington errors in a 5-3 win in front of 1,137 on Wednesday night at Five County Stadium.

Francisco Jimenez (5-2) picked up the win as Carolina improved to 24-27 on the year. Jimenez dealt six innings, holding the Blue Rocks (24-27) to one run despite seven hits. The southpaw issued one walk and struck out four.

Jordan Cooper tossed a scoreless ninth for his first save of the year.

Jason Adam (1-8) took the loss after allowing four runs on six hits in six-and-two-thirds innings.

The Mudcats pecked Wilmington for a run in the second and third on singles by Carlos Moncrief and Giovanny Urshela.

Jesus Aguilar doubled home a run in the sixth for a 3-1 lead.

The deciding runs came in the seventh inning. With two outs, Tyler Holt doubled, and moved to third on an infield single by Tony Wolters. Urshela’s second hit of the night scored one, and an error on the Blue Rocks’ right fielder made it 5-1.

Wilmington scored two on a single and back-to-back doubles in the eighth to round out the scoring.
