Trailing by seven entering the ninth, the Dash (13-13, 57-38) rallied for five runs, but the comeback fell short when J.D. Reichenbach struck out Keenyn Walker to end the game. The out gave the southpaw his first save of the year.

Francisco Jimenez (8-6) dealt six innings for the win. He allowed three runs in the first inning on four hits before settling in. The lefty scattered four hits the rest of the way, allowing one run in the third.

Dash starter Steve McCray (4-2) was ultimately done in by the home run barrage. McCray tossed six frames, allowing six runs on seven hits.

After Winston-Salem stormed out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, Greenwell responded with a deep drive over the right field wall. The two-run shot cut the lead to one.

With his team behind 4-2 in the fourth, Rodriguez surged Carolina ahead for good on a three-run jack that soared over the right field fence for a 5-4 lead. Moncrief added a solo blast to right-center in the sixth and a two-out single that drove in a run for a 7-4 lead in the seventh.

Anthony Gallas provided a pivotal three-run double to center field with two outs in the eighth, giving the Mudcats an 11-4 edge. Tyler Cannon finished the day with three hits, including his first triple and stolen base of the year.

Carolina looks for the series win tomorrow night against Winston-Salem at Five County Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m. Tickets are available through the box office by calling (919) 269-2287 or visiting carolinamudcats.com.
