NOTES:
The Geico 400 at Chicagoland Speedway is the 27th race on the 2013 Sprint Cup Series schedule. This event is also the first in the 10-race Chase.

Chicagoland Speedway, a 1.5-mile racetrack, has 18 degrees of banking in all of its turns as well as 11 degrees of banking on the tri-oval and 5 degrees on the backstretch. The length of the frontstretch is 2,400 feet, and the backstretch measures 1,700 feet. Construction of this racetrack, which is located roughly 40 miles southwest of downtown Chicago, began in August 1999.

There have been 12 races in NASCAR's premier series held at Chicagoland. Kevin Harvick won the inaugural Cup event there, the Tropicana 400, on July 15, 2001. Harvick scored another victory at this track the following year, doing so from the 32nd starting position, which is the furthest back a driver has started and won there.

Tony Stewart holds the record for most victories at Chicagoland with three. Stewart is sidelined for the remainder of this season due to a leg injury.

This will be the third consecutive season the first race in the Chase is held at Chicagoland. In the previous two years, the winner of this race went on to capture the Sprint Cup championship. Stewart did it in 2011, and Brad Keselowski did so last year.

Jimmie Johnson is the only driver with multiple poles at Chicagoland. Johnson claimed the pole there in 2005 and '12. He has yet to win a Cup race at this track. His first Nationwide Series victory came there in 2001.

Kyle Busch is the only driver who has won a Cup event at Chicagoland after starting on the pole. Busch accomplished the feat in 2008.

Just four of the previous 12 races at Chicagoland have been won from a top-10 starting position.

Six of the last eight races at this track have ended with a margin of victory less than one second. Busch's win there in '08 was the closest margin. He beat Johnson to the finish line by just 0.159 seconds.

No driver has scored his or her's first career Sprint Cup race win or maiden pole at Chicagoland. Two drivers entered in this weekend's event made their series debuts at this track: David Stremme (2005) and Josh Wise (2011).

Busch is the youngest driver to win a Cup race at Chicagoland. His victory there five years ago came when he was 23 years, 2 months and 10 days old. When Mark Martin was 50 years, 6 months and 2 days old, he became the oldest driver to win at this track in 2009.

Race 2 in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship is the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Denny Hamlin won last year's race there.
