NOTES:
The Budweiser Duel is the twin 150-mile qualifying races that will determine the starting positions for the Feb. 24 Daytona 500 beyond the front row. In the event of cancellation, the field for the Daytona 500 will be set according to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rule Book.

On Sunday, Danica Patrick made NASCAR history by becoming the first woman to win a pole position for a race in its premier series (Sprint Cup). Patrick secured the pole for the Daytona 500 with a qualifying lap at 196.434 mph (45.816 seconds). Jeff Gordon guaranteed himself the second starting position after posting a lap at 196.292 mph (45.850 secs.).

The starting lineup for each of the two qualifying races was determined in Sunday's time trials. Drivers who finished in the odd-numbered positions were assigned to the first Duel race, while drivers who finished in the even- numbered positions were placed in the final Duel. Patrick will start first in race 1, and Jeff Gordon will begin at the front for race 2.

Each Duel race at Daytona International Speedway is 60 laps in length.

The highest 15 finishers in each Duel race -- excluding the already locked-in front row -- will earn a spot in the Daytona 500, filling in positions 3-32. Based on their finishing positions in the first Duel race, the top-15 will line up on the inside row (odd-number starting positions) for the Daytona 500. The top-15 in the second Duel will start the 500 on the outside row (even- number starting positions).

Starting positions 33-36 will go to the four fastest drivers in time trials that have not already earned a spot based on their finishes in the Duels (outside the top-15). Position 37-42 will be provisional positions and go to the highest six teams in the 2012 Sprint Cup Series owner points that have not already qualified in either the time trials or the Duels.

The 43rd starting position will be assigned to the most recent eligible past Sprint Cup champion who did not make the field by any other method, providing that driver had competed during the 2012 Sprint Cup season. If the 43rd position remains unused, it will be assigned to the next highest team in last year's owner points not already locked into the field.

The 55th running of the Daytona 500 is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 24. Matt Kenseth is the defending race winner.
