With the exception of a couple of hundred single tickets, all tickets for the Sprint Cup Shelby 427 on Sunday have been distributed and additional tickets will go on sale Saturday, the track announced in a news release Friday night.
The general-admission seating is in the lower level of the speedway’s Section 4, just outside turns 3 and 4, according to information from the news release.
Las Vegas’ seating capacity, including the 102 suites but not the general-admission seats that went on sale Sunday, is 131,000.
“The recent surge in interest for Sunday’s race is a testament to the strength of NASCAR and the true passion in NASCAR fans,” said LVMS President Chris Powell in a statement.
Powell said that ticket renewals, which began in late spring 2008, were strong but that ticket sales had weakened later in the year.
“I had my doubts a couple of months ago that we’d get so close to a full house, but now it looks realistic,” Powell said.
