NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Monday, November 11th (All times Eastern)

San Antonio Spurs (6-1) at Philadelphia 76ers (4-3), 7 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The San Antonio Spurs will try to complete a quick eastern sweep on Monday night when they visit the surprising leaders of the Atlantic Division, the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Spurs clobbered the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden Sunday afternoon, 120-89.

San Antonio shot 53.9 percent from the field on Sunday, 42.9 percent from long range and 86.7 percent from the foul line. They held the Knicks under 40 percent from the field and under 30 percent from the 3-point line.

Danny Green shot the 3-ball like it was the NBA Finals. Green, who set the record for the most 3-pointers made in a Finals series, went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc and finished with 24 points. He also pulled down 10 rebounds.

"He played well," Tony Parker said of Green. "He's a shooter, so he's going to shoot the ball and tonight he made them."

Kawhi Leonard, who came off the bench on Sunday in favor of Marco Belinelli, scored 18 points and Patty Mills had 15 for the second unit. Parker finished with 17 points and Tim Duncan managed a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards.

On Monday night, he will face a former assistant coach, Brett Brown, the new skipper for the surging 76ers.

Philly leads the Atlantic Division by a game over the Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors. It's like the division is playing exactly the opposite as expected with the Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks at the bottom.

The Sixers are doing it with offense, ranking fourth in league in scoring. Problem is, Philly is dead last in the NBA in opponents' scoring, allowing 106.9 ppg.

Those numbers were skewered by Saturday's double-overtime, 127-125 loss in Cleveland to the Cavaliers. After topping the Cavs at home on Friday, the Sixers couldn't contain Kyrie Irving late.

"That was a great NBA game, and to continue to fight and continue to try to find any way possible to stay in the game and try to find a way to win," Brown said. "I'm proud of them. The only negative of tonight is that we lost."

All five Sixers starters played over 42 minutes and were led by 31 points and 10 rebounds from Evan Turner. Thaddeus Young had 29 points, followed by 21 from rookie Michael Carter-Williams, who also handed out 13 assists. Spencer Hawes chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds.

The Spurs have taken four in a row against the Sixers, dating back the past two seasons. San Antonio has won two straight in Philly, but lost the four previous contests in the City of Brotherly Love.
