NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Saturday, January 18th (All times Eastern)

Golden State Warriors (25-16) at New Orleans Pelicans (15-23), 8 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The New Orleans Pelicans will try to halt a seven-game losing streak Saturday night when they play host to the Golden State Warriors at New Orleans Arena.

The Pelicans haven't won since Jan. 3 in Boston and are in the midst of a four-game home losing streak.

On Wednesday, the Pelicans fell at home to the Houston Rockets, 103-100. New Orleans led by 10 in the final quarter and were seven clear with 3:06 left to play, but Houston stormed back for the victory.

Eric Gordon dropped a season-high 35 points in a losing effort as the Pelicans dropped their seventh straight game to fall to .500 at home. Anthony Davis had 24 points in the setback. The two outscored the Rockets in the first quarter with 24 combined points.

Brian Roberts and Jason Smith both had 10 points in defeat.

Darius Miller had a look at a late 3-pointer to tie, but it missed the mark.

"In those situations, you're hard pressed to get a decent shot," acknowledged New Orleans coach Monty Williams. "I thought he had a really good look, I thought it was down. I'm just thankful Darius shot it with confidence."

The Warriors dropped their second in a row Friday night in Oklahoma City. The Thunder prevailed, 127-121 as Golden State has allowed 125 points per game during this slide.

Kevin Durant was unstoppable on Friday as he poured in a career-high 54 points.

"You can play great defense and he can have numbers, you can play bad defense and he can struggle," Warriors head coach Mark Jackson said of Durant. "He hit some tough shots."

Stephen Curry tallied 37 points and 11 assists and Klay Thompson netted 26 points for Golden State, which has dropped three of its last four on the heels of a 10-game winning streak.

David Lee and Marreese Speights both finished with 13 points. Speights scored in 13 in just under 14 minutes, and Draymond Green chipped in 10 off the bench.

Andre Iguodala went 1-for-8 and notched two points.

The Warriors shot 52.4 percent from the floor and a whopping 59.3 percent from 3-point range. Problem was, Golden State allowed the Thunder to shoot 58 percent from the field.

Golden State wraps up its short road trip on Saturday, then plays five straight at Oracle Arena.

The Warriors have won six straight against the Pelicans, including two decisions earlier this season. Golden State has taken five straight in the Big Easy.
