NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Friday, November 29th (All times Eastern)

Los Angeles Lakers (8-8) at Detroit Pistons (6-9), 7:30 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Lakers will seek a winning record on this short road trip Friday night when they visit The Palace of Auburn Hills to meet the Detroit Pistons.

The Lakers are 1-1 on a short trip east. They fell in Washington D.C. to the Wizards on Tuesday, but held on for a win at the Barclays Center over the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.

Friday's tilt in Motown ends their brief sojourn.

Against the Nets, the Lakers built a 16-point lead after one quarter, and were 27 points ahead at one point. The Nets fought back and Paul Pierce had an uncontested look at a 3-pointer late that would've tied it, but didn't fall.

The win was the Lakers fourth in five games.

Nick Young led all scorers with 26 points.

"I thought Nick Young hit some huge shots," Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni said. "He played really well to kind of get us out of our funk."

Pau Gasol added 21 points, followed by 15 from Jordan Farmar and 11 by Jodie Meeks. Jordan Hill pulled down 12 rebounds and Shawne Williams grabbed 10 boards. Steve Blake handed out 10 assists, which was the sixth time in eight games he had double-digit helpers.

The Pistons saw two-game winning streak disappear Wednesday night when the Chicago Bulls came to Motor City and left with a 99-79 victory.

The Bulls buried the Pistons, who led by two at the half, over the final 24 minutes. The second half score was 48-26 in favor of Chicago and the Pistons only managed 11 points in the final quarter.

"They obviously were a lot better in the second half than they were in the first half," said Pistons coach Maurice Cheeks. "We couldn't score the ball and a lot of it had to do with their defense. Their defensive pressure picked up in the third and fourth quarter."

Rodney Stuckey scored a team-high 25 points, followed by 13 from Josh Smith. Brandon Jennings notched 12 points and Andre Drummond had 10. Both Smith and Drummond had double-figure rebounding nights.

The Pistons have the Sixers coming to town on Sunday, then go on a three-game road trip, visiting Miami, Milwaukee and Chicago.

The Lakers have won three straight over the Pistons and four of their last five at The Palace.
