Named a First Team All-SEC selection as a senior and was also recognized as the SEC Defensive Player of the Year for the third consecutive season...Finished career at Mississippi State as the NCAA`s all-time leading shot blocker with an astounding 564 rejections...Varnado led the Bulldogs in scoring in 2009-10 with 13.8 ppg and was tops in the SEC in rebounding with better than 10 boards per contest...Logged a total of 18 double-doubles as a senior, second-most in the league, as he became the first player in NCAA history to produce 1,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 500 blocked shots...Finished career with 1,096 rebounds, second-most in MSU history...Varnado stood as one of the most feared defenders in the country, playing much larger than his 6-9 frame as he extended his wingspan to challenge nearly every shot that came his way...A finalist for the Wooden and Naismith awards, he has demonstrated unequalled ability at the defensive end of the floor, but he has much to learn at the offensive end where he has plenty of room to grow and develop.
