NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Wednesday, April 2nd (All times Eastern)

Golden State Warriors (46-28) at San Antonio Spurs (58-16), 8:30 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The San Antonio Spurs will try to extend their franchise-best winning streak to 19 games Wednesday night when they welcome the Golden State Warriors to the AT&T Center.

The Spurs set a new franchise record for consecutive wins when they trounced the Indiana Pacers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Monday night for victory No. 18 in a row.

The Spurs, who won 17 in a row from Feb. 29-March 31, 1996, are 3 1/2 games ahead of the Oklahoma City Thunder for the West's top mark.

"We've never set any numerical goals. We've never set goals to win a division or X number of games in a row or anything like that. We just talk about trying to be the best team we can be come playoff time," Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said.

Tony Parker scored 22 points to pace the Spurs to an easy victory Monday, 103-77, in a battle of conference leaders. The loss sent the Pacers into a tie for Eastern Conference supremacy with the Miami Heat.

Kawhi Leonard tallied 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Boris Diaw netted 14 points off the bench in the triumph. Patty Mills chipped in 10 for the second unit.

The Spurs face a huge challenge Thursday night when they head to Oklahoma City to face the Thunder, however, they've owned Wednesday night's opponent.

The Spurs have won all three meetings this season and 20 of the last 22 against the Warriors. San Antonio has taken a staggering 30 in a row at home against Golden State and last loss as the host Feb. 14, 1997 (108-94).

The Warriors started a little trip through Texas with a huge victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday. Golden State prevailed, 122-120, in overtime thanks to All-Star Steph Curry.

Curry's stepback jumper with 0.1 seconds left in overtime lifted the Warriors to victory.

Dallas' Jose Calderon nailed a 3-pointer to give the Mavs a 120-118 cushion with 42.9 seconds left in the extra session and Jermaine O'Neal answered at the other end with a slam to tie it up.

O'Neal then came up with a block on the defensive side of the floor when Monta Ellis drove the lane with 13.9 seconds left.

Curry brought the ball up the floor on the ensuing possession, shook Calderon and buried his third career game-winning jumper.

"It is not the first time he has made that," Calderon said of Curry. "He has been hitting those shots, he's a great player."

Curry finished with 23 points and 10 assists, while fellow backcourt mate Klay Thompson poured in a team-high 27 points in the win. O'Neal had 20 points with eight rebounds for Golden State, which played without big men David Lee and Andrew Bogut.

Lee missed his third straight game with a strained hamstring and Bogut missed his second straight tilt with a bruised groin/pelvis.

"Great win," said Warriors coach Mark Jackson. "Absolutely incredible win for us. This is a big time win and guys really stepped up and made plays."

The Warriors remain sixth in the Western Conference, two games behind the Portland Trail Blazers and two games ahead of both the Phoenix Suns and Memphis Grizzlies.
