NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Wednesday, November 6th (All times Eastern)

Golden State Warriors (3-1) at Minnesota Timberwolves (3-1), 8 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The first stage of Golden State's four-game road trip went well and now the Warriors will pay a visit to the Minnesota Timberwolves Wednesday at the Target Center.

The Warriors handed the Philadelphia 76ers their first loss of the season on their own floor, posting a 110-90 victory at Wells Fargo Center. Former Sixer Andre Iguodala burned his old team for 32 points and buried a career-high seven 3-pointers (7-of-11)

David Lee and Steph Curry scored 18 points apiece, while Curry handed out 12 assists and grabbed 10 rebounds for a triple-double. It was Curry's second career triple-double and it helped the Warriors win for the first time on the road (1-1) and hand Philly its first defeat

"We understood with the way they (Sixers) started the season it was important for us to match their effort," Warriors head coach Mark Jackson said. "We got it going offensively and made a statement early."

The 76ers trailed 36-22 heading to the second quarter and trimmed the deficit down to six at 43-37 on Evan Turner's baseline jumper. However, Golden State scored 23 of the next 28 points to pull away.

"They were clicking on all cylinders," Turner said of the Warriors. "It was a great night for them."

Golden State had lost five straight in Philadelphia, last winning there on Nov. 24, 2007, and made 15-of-38 from 3-point territory.

The Warriors will also visit San Antonio and Memphis on the trip.

Minnesota hopes to get back on track after its first loss of the season, a 93-92 defeat at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers Monday night. Even though the Timberwolves had a 31-17 advantage in the final quarter, the Cavs were simply too hot to handle.

The Wolves shaved a 23-point third-quarter deficit down to one on Kevin Love's inside bucket with 38.9 seconds left. They had a chance to complete the comeback when Cleveland's Kyrie Irving misfired on the ensuing possession, but Love's 3-point try just prior to the buzzer fell off the mark.

"We took our time to make our run, but we gave ourselves a chance to win," said Love afterward.

Love had 17 points and 13 rebounds, Kevin Martin posted 23 points and both Corey Brewer and Derrick Williams had 13 points.

Minnesota was 3-0 for only the second time in franchise history and went 6-0 to start the 2001-02 campaign. It will try to stay unbeaten at home (2-0) when Golden State and Dallas pay a visit to the Twin Cities.

The Warriors took all four meetings with the T'Wolves last season and have won six in a row and 13 of the past 16 games in this series. Golden State has won four straight, eight of nine and 10 of its last 12 at Minnesota.
